天津海运职业学院简介
天津海运职业学院始建于 1962 年，前身为天津市科学技术进修学院（天津市职工科学技术大学）。 2006 年经天津市人民政府批准、国家教育部备案改制为天津海运职业学院。是一所以培养海员为主，兼有理工、经管等学科的综合性全日制国办高等职业学院。是我国海事局向国际海事组织申报船员培训机构之一，是天津海事局在华北地区最先开办海员对外适任证书培训的机构，也是华北地区首家通过国家海事局《船员教育和培训质量体系》认证的教育培训单位。现任党委书记胡中豪，院长马魁君。
学院主校区位于天津滨海新区。占地 180 亩，现已建成有包括教学、实训、综合办公、体育馆、学生食堂和公寓等各类建筑 75000 平方米。学院现有教职工 207 人，在 107 名专任教师中，具有研究生学历教师为 48 人，占教师总数的 45% ，具有中级以上职称的教师为 76 人，占教师总数的 71% 以上。
学院坚持大力发展海运特色专业和适应滨海新区建设对相关专业人才需求的办学方针，设置了海运工程系、信息工程系、工程技术系、经贸管理系、应用外语系、船员培训处、基础课部和成人教育中心等教学机构。开设了航海技术、轮机工程技术、海事管理、酒店管理（邮轮乘务）、理化测试及质检技术（无损检测）、管道工程施工、集装箱运输管理、物流管理、计算机网络技术等专业。
学院目前拥有海上专业及工程和港口物流专业所需的各种实验设备，具备海上专业人才教育的教学环境和办学条件。其中新建成的航海模拟器实训室和轮机模拟器实训室已经达到了国内领先水平。 2007 年学院被市教委、市财政局确定为天津市首批职业院校实训基地建设项目。
学院以服务学生为宗旨，以就业为导向，坚持 “ 学历教育、职业技能培训和职业资格证书培训 ” 三位一体的教学模式，使学生在取得学历证书的同时，可以获得与所学专业相适应的适任证书和职业资格证书，成为大学专科层次的高级技术型人才。在学生管理过程中，结合海运特色，采取半军事化模式，强化对学生进行素质训练和养成教育。
21 世纪是海洋世纪，开发海洋，教育先行。 学院将以建设 “ 海运和港口人才培养基地 ” 为发展方向，走产学研相结合的道路，为区域经济发展提供有力的人力资源支撑，把学院建成专业特色鲜明的符合国家高等教育示范标准的高等职业学院。
Tianjin Maritime Vocational Institute (TMVI), a state-owned comprehensive vocational institute, was established under the approval of Tianjin Municipal Government and the Ministry of Education in 2006. It is featured with the cultivation of seamen and also has a wide range of specialties from science to economic management. It can date back to 1962, with the original name of Tianjin Vocational Science and Technology University . The TMVI is one of the seafarer training centers which are applied to the IMO by the National Maritime Administration. It is the first one to start the training of seaman's book by Tianjin Maritime Administration in Northern China , and also the first one to be confirmed as the qualified training organization by the quality system for the education and training of seafarers. Mr HuZhonghao is the present party secretary of the institute and Mr MaKuijun is assigned as the president of this institute.
The main campus is situated in Tianjin Bin Hai New Area, covering an area of 180 mu, with nearly 75000 square meters occupied by buildings that contain fully functional equipment and facilities. There are teaching buildings, a library, a standard stadium, students' dormitories and dining halls. Now the TMVI has a faculty membership of 207, of whom 107 are professional teachers. Forty-eight members have now got Master Degree, making up 45% of the total members. Seventy-six members have got the middle rank, making up 71% o the total members.
The TMVI insists on the schooling policy of developing maritime-featured specialties and meeting the needs of the Binhai New Area for some relevant professional talents.
TMVI consists of Maritime Engineering Department, Information Engineering Department, Engineering Technology Department, Economic Trade Department, Applied English Department , providing a great variety of specialties: maritime administration, navigation technology, engine-engineering technology, hotel management (for passenger liner), nondestructive testing, plumbing engineering construction, management and transport of containers, logistics management, computer internet technology, etc.
The TMVI owns a great variety of experiment facility for the maritime specialties, such as Engineering Technology and Port Logistics The environment and capacity of education can satisfy the needs of the maritime professional talents. The newly established ship-handling simulator and the engine room simulator can come first in the nation. The TMVI was approved as one of the first training centers under construction for vocational education by the Tianjin Municipal Government and the Tianjin Financial Department in 2007.
The TMVI sticks to her mission to serve the students, to meet the needs of the employment. All our specialties have been carefully designed to be responsive to the real needs of the maritime industry. The TMVI emphasizes the practical application of knowledge and the students will be awarded a diploma together with vocational certificates such as licenses of competency for seafarers, certificate for the qualification of nondestructive testing, certificate for international container manager etc. Consequently, the students will become skillful employees with college education. In terms of students' management, much attention is paid to the students' quality training and habit developing. Meanwhile, half-military training is carried out among the students in combination with the maritime feature.
In the 21st century, the century of the ocean, education will come first in the process to explore the ocean. We are determined to focus on our mission to establish a base of professional talents for the shipping and port industry. We aim to develop into a training centre for talents of shipping and ports and a highly-qualified vocational institute, and the academic study will be carried out together with the vocational training and the employment opportunity will always be taken into consideration as well. We will serve the region economy heart and soul, cultivating powerful human resources for this area.
