约翰 卡朋特
简介男，生于1948年1月16日，美国纽约州Carthage

父亲是音乐教授及乐团指挥。南加大电影系毕业，在学期间担任剪辑、配乐的《布朗科·比利的复活》（The Resurrection of Bronco Billy）获得1970年奥斯卡最佳实景短片奖，从此他在自己的作品中担任编剧、导演、制片、作曲甚至演员等多重角色。1978年执导的低成本恐怖片《月光光心慌慌》慌慌大受欢迎。所导演电影基本上属此类，被誉为恐怖片大师。
现今他的经典电影许多都被翻拍。
