委婉法(Euphemism)是指为了策略或礼貌起见,使用温和的,令人愉快的,不害人的语言来表达令人厌恶的,伤心或不宜直说的事实,这样的一种修辞手段。
例如：
1.The greatest living thinker ceased to think.当代最伟大的思想家停止了思想。(Here “ceased to think” is an euphemism for“ died”.)
2.He's a bit off his head.他有点精神错乱。(euphemism for "he's a bit crazy")
