王义翘，原籍苏州，1936年生于南京，1963年获美国宾夕法尼亚大学博士，美国国家工程科学院院士，曾任《生物技术与工程》等17种著名学术刊物的顾问、编辑及53个专业委员会委员或主席，获27项奖誉及荣誉名衔。
