Established in Hangzhou city in 2004, XiLingYinShe Auction Co., Ltd is currently the largest art auction house in south mainland China. It specializes in the sale of Chinese painting and calligraphy, seal, inkstone and other refined articles of the study, oil painting and sculpture, rare book and manuscript, etc.
Supported by the prestigious academic society XiLingYinShe (XiLing Society of Seal Arts), which was founded in 1904, XiLing Auction is dedicated to promoting Chinese traditional culture and the development of the Chinese art market. For the last few years, XiLing Auction launched several ground-breaking sales, including “Seals in Ivory and Rhinoceros Horn by Modern and Contemporary Chinese Masters”, “The First Sale of Fine Inkstone”, “The Special Sale of Chinese Scholar’s Rock”, and “The First Sale of Chinese Writing Brush”, which were highly recognized by the art market.
In the last five years, XiLing Auction has held 10 spring and autumn auctions, achieving a total sales volume of over RMB 2.5 billion, with over 80% bought-in rate. Several sale records have been set in XiLing auction room. For example, a calligraphy handscroll by Wang Duo (1592～1652) fetched RMB 16,912,000 (XiLing 2007 Autumn Auctions, Lot 412), breaking the sale record for calligraphy from the 15th Century onwards and renewing the record for the artist; A Painting Album Of Flowers And Fruits by Jin Nong（1687～1763）realized RMB 39,760,000 (XiLing 2009 Autumn Auctions, Lot 802) , setting a new sale record in Xiling auction room and breaking the record for both the artist and “Yangzhou Painting School”; A Ziyun Duan Inkstone inscribed by Wu Changshuo（1844～1927） and Shen Shiyou（1858～1917）sold for the outstanding RMB 5.49 million (XiLing 2009 Autumn Auctions, Lot 2154), which created the sale record for scholar's inkstone. XiLing Auction is thus lauded as “the First Hammer of South China”.
XiLing Auction has been honored as a “Trustworthy and Outstanding Auction House” by Auction Association of Zhejiang Province for four consecutive years, and is awarded as “The Advanced Enterprise of Service Trade” by Hangzhou Municipal Government.
