《我看过你哭》为拜伦（1788—1824）所作的诗，他是英国19世纪初期伟大的浪漫主义诗人。其代表作品有《恰尔德·哈罗德游记》、《唐璜》等。在他的诗歌里塑造了一批“拜伦式英雄”。拜伦不仅是一位伟大的诗人，还是一个为理想战斗一生的勇士；他积极而勇敢地投身革命，参加了希腊民族解放运动，并成为领导人之一。 回顾他的一生，他的诗，他的精神，就足以使任何能感应的人相信：拜伦不但是一个伟大的诗人，而且是世界上总会需要的一种诗人，以嘲笑其较卑劣的，并鼓舞其较崇高的行动。

I saw thee weep --- the big bright tear
我看过你哭－一滴明亮的泪
Came o'er that eye of blue;
涌上你蓝色的眼珠；
And then, me thought, it did appear

A violet dropping dew:

I saw thee smile --- the sapphire's blaze
