生平简介在夏威夷出生，因家境贫穷，只在夏威夷大学念了一年戏剧，即在《夏威夷》一片中当临时演员。其后到纽约发展，开始在俱乐部献唱。事业上的突破是当上了百老汇歌舞剧《屋顶上的提琴手》的伴唱女郎，她逐渐爬上此剧的女演员。由于说学逗唱样样精通，使她在纽约的夜总会赢得“喜剧皇后”之誉，并曾获艾美奖和东尼奖的肯定。早在1971年就出演过喜剧片《Thorn, The》，直到1979年方出演第二部电影作品《歌声泪痕》（玫瑰），即得到奥斯卡最佳女主角提名，该片的主题曲唱片使她获葛莱美奖最佳女歌星。1991年演出《昨日·今日·永远》再度入围奥斯卡最佳女主角。她的喜剧演出深入人心，但也会演《情比姊妹深》这种催人泪下的文艺片。2000年主演有神秘侦探片《小镇疑云》。
