Philip Michael Ondaatje是斯里兰卡籍加拿大小说家及诗人。
The English Patient（英国病人）是他最出名的小说并且赢得了布克小说奖（ Booker Prize） 其小说改编电影也获得了奥斯卡金像奖。
1954年Michael Ondaatje出生于科伦坡并随母亲搬至英国。

1962年搬至加拿大。
他先后在毕晓普大学（Bishop's College School）和 Bishop's University 学习了一段时间后搬至多伦多,在多伦多大学（University of Toronto)取得文科学士学位并在皇后大学(Queen's University)取得文科硕士学位，之后他开始在西安大略大学（University of Western Ontario）教课。
1970他定居多伦多，并在1971至1988,他在约克大学（York University）及格伦登大学（Glendon College）执教英文文学。
