背景资料:1991-1994年在山东省信息中心工作,被评为计算机软件工程师;1999年8月任北京大学力学与工程科学系副教授;2002年10月至2004年8月,日本九州大学JSPS(日本学术振兴会)特别研究员;2004年8月任北京大学力学与工程科学系教授,博士生导师;2006年3月起任北京大学工学院力学与空天技术系教授,博士生导师。第五、六届全国生物力学专业委员会委员、中国力学学会流体力学专业委员会第八届多相流、非牛顿流专业组副组长,北京市生物医学工程学会生物力学专业委员会副主任,中国生物物理学会生物力学与生物流变学专业委员会委员,《力学学报》和《医用生物力学》编委。

长期从事生物力学、非牛顿流体力学的研究工作,在血液流变学、细胞内钙信号传导、分数阶反常扩散、粘弹性流体力学、多孔介质内的热流等方面取得了一些有重要意义的研究成果, 相关工作被SCI论文他引500多次.
