专业背景胡亦台 是Alston & Bird LLP律师事务所知识产权诉讼团队的合伙人。在2008 年，《知识产权法与商务》杂志把他评为“50 位45 岁以下的顶尖知识产权律师之一”。胡律师的业务重点是国际知识产权诉讼与客户咨询。在诉讼方面，他曾在美国地区联邦法院和州法院审理的30 个案件中担任过首席律师。这些案件涉及专利、商业机密、许可争议等。他在美国国际贸易委员会第337 条调查案方面经验丰富，曾受理过18 个案件, 其中10 个案件他曾担任过首席律师。在诉讼案中胡律师代表的客户分别涉及如下技术领域：半导体技术、非易失存储器、液晶显示器、发光二极管、计算机显示器、投影机、光学鼠标技术、计算机网络产品、无线网络通讯产品、集成电路包装、微处理器技术、数子电路设计等。他还在美国及海外对案件进行过仲裁，所涉及的内容为许可与技术转让之争议。

胡律师是加利福尼亚州、马里兰州、哥伦比亚特区（首都华盛顿）律师协会的成员。他被批准在如下地区与法庭执业：美国北加州地区联邦法院及加州中部地区联邦法院、哥伦比亚特区联邦法院、威斯康辛西区联邦法院、密歇根东区联邦法院、美国联邦巡回上诉法院、美国专利与商标局。
他常常在会议和研讨会上就国际知识产权法发表演讲，其主题也包括在中国大陆与台湾对美国知识产权的保护。胡律师目前还兼任台湾国立交通大学的助理教授，讲授美国专利诉讼方面的课程。就美国的诉讼问题，他应邀对台湾司法界（包括新成立的知识产权法庭）提供培训。从2004 到2006 年，他是《专利世界》杂志的编辑部成员。
