莱斯利·霍华德（Leslie Howard，1893.4.3—1943.6.1）
原名：Leslie Howard Stainer
1893年的4月3日，Leslie Howard Stainer 出生于 福雷斯希尔（Forest Hill），他的父亲是匈牙利人，母亲是英格兰人，他是5个兄弟姐妹中的长子。
Leslie参加了第一次世界大战，但是1917年他被诊断出患有战斗疲劳（神经机能病的症状），被遣送回家，随后他接受了治疗。
Leslie以扮演神经敏锐、善于空想但却英勇无比的形象著称，David O. Selznick盛情邀请他出演乱世佳人中Ashley Wilkes，起初他拒绝了，他当时已经46岁了，他不愿意去扮演一个20多岁的小伙子。他对Selznick说：“我一点兴趣也没有去扮演一个孱弱，令人同情的人物，我已经演腻了这种无用的角色。”
Selznick和Leslie达成协议，如果他出演乱世佳人，他将授予其Intermezzo（寒夜情挑）的出品权。霍华德最后接受了Ashley这个角色，但在拍片过程中他并不积极合作，他是唯一一个没有读过原著的主演。
在乱世佳人后，莱斯利参演了3部作品。
1943年6月1日（二战期间），他所乘坐的飞机在比斯开湾（Bay of Biscay）被德军击落，他和妻子遗骸下落不明。
到死亡为止，Leslie和 Ruth Evelyn结婚23年，有两个孩子。 但是由于他的间谍身份，让人猜测死亡的真正原因。 保护当时英国首相丘吉尔， 还是他自己脱身了？ 这一切不得而知。
