外国语学院简介
武汉科技大学外国语学院下设有学院办公室、学科建设与研究生办公室、大学英语部、英语系、德语系、研究生公共外语部、语言学习中心等机构。目前在校本科生446人，专任教师159人，其中教授4人，副教授37人。外籍教师6-8人。学院是外国语言学及应用语言学硕士学位授权单位，自2004年开始招收研究生。
学院承担着全校大学英语公共课程和英语专业的教学任务，还承担着全校所有涉外专业、硕士和博士研究生等层次学生的公共外语教学任务，以及出国留学、教师提高、等级考试等外语培训任务。除英语外，学院还开设德语、法语、日语和俄语等课程。
学院教学设施先进，拥有21间现代化的语音教室、600座的英语语言学习中心。此外，外语资料室藏书4000余册、期刊170余种，可以满足各类外语教学和科研的需要。
学院重视科研工作，近三年发表论文270余篇，出版教材、专著、译作10余部。目前学院承担省、部、校级课题30多项。
近年来，学院秉承“厚德博学，崇实去浮”的校训，贯彻“教学立院、科研强院、民主办院、制度治院、改革兴院、开放活院”的方针，在教学、科研、师资队伍建设和基础设施建设、对外学术交流等方面都取得了显著成就。
A brief introduction to the School of Foreign Languages
School of Foreign Languages comprises such organizations asEnglish Department, College English Department, College English Postgraduate Department,Computer-aided Foreign Language Teaching Center, College English Self-Access Learning Center, Translation Research Instituteand so on. At present the school has 480 majors , 150 full-time standing faculty , among whom there are 4 professors, 37 associate professors. In addition, we employ 6-8 lecturers from English speaking countries.
The school is the authorized unit to confer thedegree of M. A. in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics,and has begun to enroll English postgraduates since 2004.
The school is responsible for English teaching for English majors and students taking English as a second major. It also offers College English courses for non-English majors and foreign language teaching tasks forpostgraduates and doctoral students.Moreover, the school serves as a training sector for overseas studies, staff development, and foreign langauge level examinations. Besides, the school offers other language courses, including German, French, Japanese, and Russian.
The school boasts its advanced facilities for teaching and research, including 21 updated multimedia language classrooms, a College English Self-Access Learning Center with 600 seats,an overseas TV program receiving center.Moreover, our library fulfils its mission through the acquisition of more than 4,000 volumes and 170 periodicals. It makes these works available to teachers and students for learning ,teaching and academic research.
The school attaches great importance to academic research. Over the past three years, it has published over 270 theses, and more than10 books covering teaching materials, monographs, translations. Up to now, the school has undertaken about 30research projects of the states, the provinces, and the university.
With the motto “Link up East with West, Have both Integrity and Ability” in mind, the school has made remarkable achievements in teaching, academic research, teaching forces, teaching facilities, and international academic exchange in the goal of establishing a “teaching oriented, research enhanced, democratic administered, reform inclined, well regulated and open minded community”.
