2003年11月-2005年6月，在美国密苏里大学从事研究工作

消防烈士---许斌（1971—1992）原湖南长沙市消防支队二中队战士。男，1971年出生，1991年入伍。1992年9月29日，湖南省建筑技工学校教师宿舍楼发生火灾。1号水枪手许斌同志第一个冲进火场，全力阻止火势。当听到三楼还有液化气瓶时，冒着爆炸的危险，从楼中抢出两个液化气瓶。当晚长沙市大华五金交电商店又发生特大火灾，正在供水的许斌接到阻止火势命令后，迅速爬上三楼屋顶。突然，一股浓烟卷着烈火迎面扑来，使许斌重重坠落地面，经抢救无效，壮烈牺牲。1992年被批准为革命烈士，追记一等功。
