校史简介嵊泗中学创建于1953年，是浙江省二级重点中学。原址位于菜园镇沙河路仰天院1号，2003年9月迁入菜园镇东海路50号的新校址。投资7800万元的新嵊泗中学按省一级重点中学标准建造，占地面积61192平方米。校园依山傍水，环境优美，设计新颖，布局合理，现代化学校气息浓郁。现有教学班34个，其中高中24个班，在校生1740名，教职工151名。目前学校的设施尤其在教育信息化、办公环境、体育设施等方面的硬件配置已处于舟山市领先地位。
学校重视师资队伍建设，现有高中专任教师82人，全部具有本科以上学历，其中研究生课程进修结业者为43人，占全体专任教师的52.4%，学历水平名列舟山市前茅。他们中有全国优秀教师，省劳动模范，市级学科带头人等。“名师工程”和“青蓝工程”建设卓有成效，多名青年教师成为市级教学业务尖子。
学校坚持“以学生发展为本”的教育理念，以教育的“三个面向”为出发点，以让学生“学会做人、学会学习、学会创新”为目标，积极推进素质教育。以研究性学习为切入点，以新课改为契机，重视校本课程的开设，激发学生创新意识，提高学生实践能力。同时学校坚持特色亮校，把英语教育作为主特色来抓。实行英语小班化教学，积极做好外教引进工作，组织学生赴澳交流。用举办英语周、夏令营、英语水平测试等形式，积极创设英语学习氛围，稳步扎实地培养未来双语人才。
学校坚持科研兴校的理念，营造以校为本的教学研究机制，积极创设研究状态下工作的情境。以省、市、县三级立项课题研究为契机，致力于课改实践与校本研究，教师在省级、国家级正式刊物上发表的论文人均篇数列舟山市前茅。重视教师教学理论水平的提高，学习型校园建设已具雏形。
学校重视校园文化建设，宏扬和积淀办学的人文底蕴，重视教育活动的人文性原则。通过文化艺术节、科技节、军训、校运会、暑期社会实践和开设人文讲座等丰富多彩的活动，加强对学生的人文素养的培养，促进学生的个性与潜能的发展。 学校积极探索“学生民主化校园管理模式”，通过校长信箱、 “知心姐姐”热线，师生民主对话会、学生值周班制度等形式，加强师生沟通，营造和谐、人文、宽松的教育氛围，充分发挥学生在学校管理中的主体作用。
A Brief Introduction of Shengsi High School
Shengsi High School, founded in 1953, is a second-rank key school in Zhejiang province. In September 2003, it moved into No.50 Donghai Road from the former site No.1 YangTianyuan on Shahe Road. The new school covers an area of 61,192 square meters, which was built in line with the standard of a provincial first-rank key middle school and cost more than 78 million yuan. The well-arranged-designed new school is leaning against green hills and standing over the water with a beautiful environment. Full of modern academic atmosphere, Shengsi High School has 34 classes, including 24 senior ones, and 1740 students as well as 151 teachers in total. At present, the facilities in the school are in the leading position in the whole city, especially the hardware equipment in office and P.E.
Particular attention has been paid to the construction of the teaching staff. Now, Shengsi High School is in the front of the whole city in academic credentials with 82 professional teachers in the Senior Department. All the teachers have already finished undergraduate courses and 43 of them even have finished the study of graduate-student courses. There are national outstanding teachers, model workers and leading teachers in certain subjects in the city of Zhoushan. The success of famous—teacher project and training—young –teacher project has helped many teachers make great progress.
The school sticks to the concept of improving quality-oriented education, based on the development of students themselves, with the goal of learning to behave, study and create. The school takes research courses as a breaking-through point and pays special attention to school-based courses and inspiring the students’ creativity and ability of practicing. Meanwhile the school pays much attention to English education via small-class English teaching. The school is now trying to invite foreign teachers and has sent some students to Australia for association. The forms of English week, summer camping, English test create an active atmosphere for learning English.
The school sticks to the idea of making itself booming by doing scientific research. With the encouragement and support from school leaders, teachers are active in writing academic theses, and they have set about course reformation, school-teaching-material studying.
Shengsi High School attaches importance to the construction of campus culture and school activities, for example, the Culture and Art festival, Science and Technology festival, military training, school sports meeting and a variety of lectures, with which the school strengthens the education of students quality of human culture and accelerates the development of the students’ characteristics and potential.
The school is active in exploring the “students participating management”, which consists of Headmaster’s mailbox, Intimate— Sisters hot line, face –to—face democratic conversations and class—on –duty system. All of these enhance the communications between the students and teachers.
In recent years, with the efforts of all the school staff, the development of the school has come into a new era, the students’ general qualities have improving and the school repeatedly sets a new record in the entrance examination.
