吴英恺亲自撰写的回忆录《学医行医传医70年》，由中国科学技术出版社出版，2002年再次印刷。吴老以朴实自然的笔触，写出了他70年来在医疗、预防、教学、科研和国内国际交流等方面的经历、经验和思考。从立志学医到远渡重洋赴美进修，从我国胸心外科事业的奠基人到心血管流行病学的开拓者，从受人尊敬的一代名医到热心科普工作的执著老人……生动地展现了吴老在不同时期的生活历程、个性风采和崇高的精神境界。该书所反映的吴老在为人、治学、处世等方面的经验，值得后人学习和借鉴。
他在国外的同道、朋友都渴望能一睹该书为快，但由于语言隔阂不能如愿。2003年由美国华盛顿大学医学院O’Neal教授发起，吴老的夫人李式琰女士协助组织，将该书翻译成英文。英文版内容忠于原文，英文地道简练，不仅是一部优秀的名人传记，也是学习英文的好教材。
