Google Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Eric Schmidt will be in Washington Tuesday to talk about the intersection of technology and the economy. Schmidt, a vocal Barack Obama supporter and a member of the President-elect's Transition Economic Advisory Board, will discuss how technology can help restore public trust in government and generate desperately needed economic expansion and job growth.
It will be a timely conversation. With no end to the global financial crisis in sight, the economy is sure to be at the top of the agenda for the incoming administration and the new Congress.
Among the issues Schmidt will address: building a communications and broadband infrastructure for the 21st Century, repairing the nation's education system, making government more open and responsive and supporting research and innovation.
The event, entitled "Eric Schmidt on What's Ahead," is being hosted by the New America Foundation, a Washington, D.C., think tank. Schmidt chairs the New America Foundation's board of directors.
