Dear Flyheart and other forum friends,
These days I kept receiving e-mails from my home and friends inquiring about my safety. I was in Los Angeles, which is in the West Coast, thousands miles away from Eastern city New York. Like you folks, I just glued to TV watching the collapse of the World Trade Center. I think with internet you can have all sorts of information regarding this tragedy right away.
My work was interrupted yesterday as most parts of Los Angles were cut off for security reason just like any other major US cities. People working inside skycrapers in the downtown were asked to leave their posts for home and the downtown became a ghost town. Major shopping centers and public places were closed. Los Angeles International Airport was shut down. I was forced to come back when I made a delivery to my customers near the airport due to the closure of free ways. You see, terrorists did affect my business. There is no hostile feeling towards Chinese here. Today, it returned to normal, business as usual.
The general feelings of American people are angry, shooking and eager to strike back. TV has a live coverage on the aftermath of this tragedy around the clock. Services are being held at various churches to pray for the victims and console their families. Blood donation certers are filled with donors. In general, patriotic feelings prevails.
Though I am not an Amerian citizen, I do join all Americans in condolences and my hearts go out to those innocent victims. Some of them might disapprove their government's policy. Whoever did it has no right to kill these innocent people for whatever reason. Likewise, I do not approve any retalistion from American side that will result in civilian casualty in any country in the world.
Personally, I do not think it will lead to another world war and I just sincerely hope there will never be another world war.
The World Trade Towers used to be the symbol of strength. Now the symbol is gone, but strength remains. The strength of peace and freedom, the strength of human civilization remains in the heart of all peace loving people around the globe.
Let us pray that one day people in this planet will be set free from the horror of terrorism and live in harmony for the common good and prosperity.
Dave in Los Angeles.
