Wizard Glacierbay(Jenny and Panpanpan, read my lips, please)
Oh, well, as a totally self-teaching English learner myself, I'm so glad to know that Jenny and Panpanpan are also this category as well as me. The days I haunted myself in this forum, I had perused a lot of good articles here.Apparently, one of the hot hits here was how to improve oneself's English, in answer to the great generous contributions of experiences of those kind people, I think it's time for me to reveal my secret trump in public, publishing some of my own ways on how to learn English well.
As a matter of fact, one year ago this time, I even had no ability to weave a whole sentence of English for I had abandoned them for almost a decade. They were almost fade out from my life by that time. But in the past all days, I immersed myself into that mysterious world again every single day and night, and now, I believe I've got a huge progress in result. I simply sumed up my personal prescription as two words: Parrot and Wolf. Aha,it sounds so weird for you guys to understand the very meaning of it, right? Ok,let's go ahead...
Today I just want to talk about how to be a foxy Parrot on English study, for sorry I have no time to write down a complete preachment one time.I have no PC in my dormitory, so I have to sneakingly use the computer of my firm at daylight, that's way too dangerous, in a way, if i was caught by my boss, i will suffer an awful storm by it's latent feasibility. Well, I do not mind it at all, for me, life also means some necessary venture, for I'm a man, I'd more like to receive any inevitable risk.
You know, in English Parrot means imitating or repeating the words that someone have just said, for human being ourselves, it's not really a good habit for us to form at any rate, you will have no brain of yourself to confront anything ahead of you, or even lost yourself sometimes, that's I hate to imagine, maybe you're the same with me, aren't you? But, if you want to improve your English , it's a good workable approach indeed. As for me, i didn't receive any formal grounding training in the past one year.Yet my English was rocketed at a high speed that almost beyond your imagination. I have attributed all this to a guy named Glacierbay. I like call him as Wizard Glacierbay. In truth he is not so glacial, but really so cool. He is a Chinese, our Chinese people always like use this kind of qualified diploma to rate the rank, suck like Band 6 , if this paper can be a pertinent measure to judge someone's English level, i dare to say that Wizard Glacierbay's English has reach that altitude of Band 12.Something even more worse slaughtered, he have perfectly mixed up his Chinese thought and the English writing style into a total paragon. Wow, don't look at me this way, don't enlarge your purchas looking at me with such an distrustful expression on your face , I have brought some essays here written by him. Now it goes as following:
(Take precaution: before you deliver your soul to his superhuman wonderful writing, just keep what i said into your mind, that is parroting Wizard Glacierbay's writing skill into your mind, the more you pirate from his articles, the more you will gain to your English...if you guys want more of his essays, do let me know...for Jenny, I'd just like a kiss as reward(don't tell me that's your first one,:) I rather you confess something that if every single day you kiss a different man, then i can't receive my reward by the end of next year for the sake of the full scheduled calendar of yours, aha.:) For Panpanpan, I just ask for a round of drink, this is not going to too far, right? My dear buddy?:) Good stuffs for all to share, that's reasonable in the cyber world! let's play the game immediately. )

I wanna know (1) (Written by GlacierBay ) \"I wanna know I wanna know what turns you on. I wanna know So I can be all that and more And I\’d like to know I\’d like to know what makes you cry So I can be the one who always makes you smile...\"
Listening to this song reminds me of Lauren. This is our love theme song. From the time we met to the time she left, this song seemed to have always accompanied every memorable scene of us together. It also expressed my deepest thoughts for her. I still remember the first day when we met in a Literature Humanity class. At that point, we sat quite far away from each other. But soon enough, I noticed her.
She was wearing a sweater and denim jeans and tied her hair into a simple ponytail. She had big eyes shining with wits and curiosity. Her pale skin gave a sharp contrast to the dark tone of her sweater. It seemed like every time she had something against my points on discussing \"Brave New World,\" the novel that our professor assigned for us to read. Her points were quite keen and penetrating though. Although I wasn\’t pleased by the fact that she opposed my points, at the same time I couldn\’t disagree on her views with reason.
After class, I accosted her, \"It seems to me that you always have opposing points to my statements.\" She looked at me briefly, with a copmlicated emotion flashed across her eyes, and said, \"Arguments is what makes literature thrilling.\" Then, she walked away without another word. \"Would you care to lunch with me and have a further discussion?\" I called out behind her. \"On what?\" She turned back and spoke with a nonchalant tone. \"Practically anything you wish to talk about.\" \"Such as how annoying you can be to girls sometimes?\" \"If that\’s what you wish.\" She paused for a while, then gave me a slight smile. \"Sounds interesting, how about the Ethiopian restaurant nearby?\"she suggested. \"Sure.\"
When we got into the restaurant, this song tuned up. We got seated quietly and didn\’t speak to each other for a while, as if we just wanted to listen to the song.

I wanna know (2) 精华 GlacierBay 32 1 01/10 06:32 I\’ve never been so nervous because of a girl. She\’s the type of person who can really take your breath away if she keeps staring at you. Lucky enough for me, she just looked at me for a short while and went back to enjoy the music. Finally, a waiter came and broke the silence.
Before making any order, she said, \"I just wanna let you know that it\’s my style to split the bill with my friends. When the waiter brings the bill to us, we\’ll split the cost. Agree?\" I knew she had her points and would definitely stick with her gun no matter what. But I also wanted to let her know that it\’s my style to pay the bills for the girls. Yet suddenly, an idea popped up in my mind.
So I said, \"Well, it\’s not my style to let a girl split the bill with me. But if you insist to do so, why don\’t I give you a treat this time, then you give me a treat next time?\" She looked into my eyes and said, \"Is this your strategy to make sure a girl will go out with you next time?\" \"Not too likely. But I am willing to experiment this technique on you.\" \"Oh, really?\" She laughed slightly and said, \"I feel flattered when you said so.\" Then we both chuckled as if no one was around us.

I wanna know (3) 精华 GlacierBay 69 4 01/12 07:42 After a declicious Ethiopian lunch, we left the restaurant. It was mid november at that time. Cold breezes made the people on the street shivered and zipped up their jackets. No one seemed to be willing to stay in the cold air for another minute. I looked at Lauren. Unlike most people who looked as if they were suffering from gangrene or froze bite, she seemed to be enjoying the walk with a slow pace. I slowed down a bit to accomodate her.
Suddenly, she spoke and broke the awful silence between us, \"I had a terrific night. You don\’t have to walk me home. I\’ll start going on my own now.\" I felt somewhat baffled and confused. But she said, \"Don\’t ask me to say any farewell words. I hate to say goodbye.\" Then we both stopped walking simultaneously. She dug in her bag and found a piece of Godiva chocolate, handed it to me, and said, \"This is a little gift I usually gift to my new friends. Let\’s turn around and walk on our own. But don\’t look at my direction, I don\’t like friends to see me leaving.\"
\"But I don\’t feel right about this.\" I protested. \"I never let a girl walk home alone, especially without seeing her leaving.\" She gave me a mesmerizing smile, and said, \"Well, then get used to it.\" \"Then how can I get to meet you other than classes? I don\’t even have your phone number.\" \"You surely will find some clues. We shall meet again if fate allows us.\" Without anymore words, she turned me around and started walking away. I knew she was walking away because the extraordinary fragrance of her perfume gradually ceased in the air.
When I got home, I took out the chocolate she gave me and tried it. It tasted not only sweet, but rather scrumptious (probably because it came from her). Surprisingly, when I looked at the candy wrapper, I saw her neat hand-writing. It says: \"For someone like you, you probably like this soul-soothing chocolate very much.\" Then, underneath the line, she wrote her phone number and e-mail.
Did it mean she had good feelings about me? I started to wonder. For the first time, I wanted to \"demystify\" a girl, whose mind seemed as deep as a river, whose smile seemed as seducing as Aphrodite. She was like a puzzle composed of tens and thousands of pieces, each piece has its own aspect and feature. I was beginning to put them together and try to see who she really is. I didn\’t call that night, not even the next. I knew she wouldn\’t want me to call her right away to prove my anxiety. So instead, I decided to wait for her after the Lit-Hum. class.
The day before class, I went to a CD store, trying to look for the song that I heard in the restaurant. However, when I finally found the right section, the salesman told me it had just gotten sold out. I left the store in despair. Just as I loafed around the mall, I realized someone was standing in my way. I looked up, it was Lauren! \"Hey, what\’s up?\" She grinned, \"Why do you look so sad?\" My mouth was wide-opened. Just before I barely had time to close it, I muttered, \"Nothing, I was looking for a CD.\"
\"Oh.\" She said, as if she understood what I wanted. She looked into her messenger bag and took out the CD I wanted! \"So this is what you\’ve been looking for, right?\" I was really astonished. She seemed as if she were psychic. \"Are you sure you can\’t read people\’s minds?\" \"The song was called \’I wanna know.\’ I wanted one for myself. But then I figured you\’ll probably like to have one as well.\" She said it in a matter-of-fact tone. It seemed like she always knew what people wanted. \"Then can you figure what I wanna know?\" I asked shrewdly. \"What do you wanna know?\" This time she gave up. Her eyes shone with curiosity. \"I wanna know what you like and what turns you on.\" I stated frankly, without hiding my intentions. She lifted her eye brows a little, and grinned, \"Por que no, amor mio.\" (She spoke in Spanish, it meant, \"Why not, my love.\")

I wanna know (4) 精华 GlacierBay 45 0 01/13 05:01 By the time when we left the mall, it was quite dark outside. (I didn\’t even realize we\’ve spent 4 hours in the mall already!) Although I had my car parked nearby, Lauren insisted to take a walk with me before we go home. \"You like to walk alot, don\’t you?\" I was extremely curious. She chuckled, and said, \"That depends on who I am walking with and where I am walking.\" It made me feel good. Her voice was so dulcet, as a soft music. I had to admit that she was astute in terms of choosing words.
Neither of us seemed to be in the mood of speaking, so we simply walked. It was delightful but also tranquil. Indeed, I liked that feeling. I didn\’t have to dig out any word from my mind to keep the conversation going. Neither of us needed to take the initiative when we talk. It was like, if we didn\’t feel like talking, we could simply do things with our mouths shut and we would still know what\’s going on in each other\’s minds.
As we approached a Bath & Body Works (a store that sells lotions and perfumes), Lauren went in. She walked straight to the perfume section and picked out a bottle. It was a really elaborate piece of art. Its dark blue shell was carefully shaped as a water drop. She handed me that bottle and I smelled it. It was the same scent as the one she wore when we first went out for lunch. Then I realized why it smelled so extraordinary. It was a cologne for men. No wonder I\’ve never smelled that type of fragrance from most girls before. \"Weird, right? I like a men\’s cologne,\" she looked at me. \"Not really. It was just like some girls wearing men\’s shirt as their nightgowns. You know, it was a style thing.\" I said in a matter-of-fact tone.
\"I like it very much because most feminine perfumes were really common. They all smelled so alike that you can\’t tell one from another. But when I smelled this scent, I decided that\’s the right one.\" \"You\’re so...different. I mean, weird, in a way,\" I said. \"Probably that\’s why I went out with you,\" she said with a \"wicked\" smile. \"You know, weirdoes stick together.\" She laughed softly. Without a word, I took the bottle from her hand and took another bottle of the same scent to the cashier and told her to pack them each separately. \"Here. You gave me a CD, I\’ll give you a cologne.\" I said. \"Well?\" she seemed puzzled. \"Then what\’s the other bottle for?\" \"That\’s for me, the man you\’ll be with.\" I said, \"Weirdoes not only stick together, they usually smell the same.\" Like two little kids, we ran and chased each other. By the time when we left the store, we became two weirdoes--holding hands and smelled with the same scent.
This time she finally led me drive her home. I walked her to the lobby. Honestly, I didn\’t want to leave. I just wanted time to stop at that second and nothing would be in motion. I wanted to take a closer look at her face, and her mind. Suddenly, she hugged me and whispered, \"It was the best and happiest night in my life. I appreciate it.\" Then quickly, she led go. \"Chao. (It meant \"goodbye\" in Italian)\" \"I hate to see you leaving.\" I said instinctively. \"Next time I\’ll make sure I leave without letting you know.\" She smiled gently, then turned around and entered the elevator.

When I went back into the car and took out the CD, I realized that I accidentally spilled the cologne on it (probably because I didn\’t close the bottle properly--since I never did). The whole CD smells with the Glacier Bay scent then. As I played it, I didn\’t immediately ignite the car. Instead, I lied down on my seat and spent some time listening to the song. \"It\’s amazing how you knock me off my feet, Every time you come around me I get weak, Nobody ever makes me feel this way. You kiss my lips and then you take my breath away. I wanna know...\"
I was starting to wonder if this song was made especially for us. It was our love theme. I\’ve always thought that it was impossible to find a song to represent a couple, yet at that moment, I saw the unique relationship between music and love. As my cell phone rang up, I picked it up and answered. It was Lauren. \"I got home and I saw your car is still parked downstairs.\" I could tell she was playing the same song from the background music on the other side of the phone. \"I just wanna stay a little longer to enjoy the music.\" She led out a soft laughter, as soothing as a light breeze on the hill. \"Are you free this saturday?\" I wanted to take her to a really nice French restaurant. There was a little pause. Then she said, \"No. I am sorry. I had to dine with my family.\" From her voice, I knew she didn\’t plan to have me tagging along. So I said, \"Okay. We can go another time.\" \"Tim,\" she suddenly said.
\"Uh-huh?\" \"Are you really happy when you\’re with me?\" That sounded very odd of her because she usually won\’t ask such type of \"sensitive\" questions, for she had always been as carefree as a wisp of wind. So quick it comes her highs, so soon it goes her lows. She has never sounded so doubtful before. Yet I didn\’t want to spoil this night by emphasizing too much on her strangeness. So I confessed, \"My dear, you\’re the first and may be the last candle that brings light to my life.\"

After the night that Lauren and I went out, I didn\’t get to see her. It was as if she suddenly disappeared into the air. Although I was hoping she would have at least shown up in our Lit-Hum. class, I went back to my dorm in disappointment. Where is she? I began to think. I called her, but no one ever picked up the phone. I e-mailed her thousands of times, yet never did I get a reply from her. I\’ve waited for nights in the lobby of her building. I tried every way I could think of to reach her. But I never got to see her. Or, maybe I should have said, she never went back to her building after that night.
That day, I walked in the streets in despair. Twenty days. I haven\’t seen her for twenty days. Where is she? I thought. While I contemplate, I wasn\’t even aware that the snow flakes drifted down from the grimmy-looking grayish sky. Even though I only walked for a couple minutes, the snow piled up all over my hair, shoulder, etc. As the chill from melting ice stream down on my face and the back of my neck, I realized I better find a place to dry myself up or I would catch a bad flu.
Just as I approach a CD store, I heard our love theme song again. I halted my steps and just stood there listening to the lyrics of the song.
\"I wanna know, I wanna know what turns you on. I wanna know, So I can be all that and more... And I\’d like to know, I\’d like to know what makes you cry, So I can be the one who always makes you smile...\"
Just as I looked at the glass of the store display, I saw Lauren\’s reflection! I stood there aghast. I hesitated to turn around because I was afraid it was only my hallucination. It was too good to be true. Until I heard someone say, \"Timothy.\" I turned around, my shoulders suddenly dropped. It was Jane, my friend from the Chemistry class. I didn\’t know her too well. We were only the type of friends who only say hello when we see each other. \"Hi,\" I tried my best to squeeze out a so-called natural smile. (I bet I looked my face looked like a dead pigeon.)
\"Oh, you are all soaked.\" I didn\’t realize all the ice on me had already melted until she said so. She took out some tissue to wipe the moist off my face and my hair. \"Umm..thanks.\" I took back the tissue from her hand and wiped off the moist by myself. I didn\’t like to have any unnecessary physical contact with girls that I wasn\’t familiar with. \"You\’re welcome.\" It seemed as if she knew what I had been thinking because she stopped touching me and handed me the tissue pack instead. \"What are you doing out here in the cold?\" she asked curiously. \"Well, I was looking for Lauren. You know her?\" \"Not really. Is she in our school?\" \"Yea, but I haven\’t seen her for a while.\"
\"Oh,\" she sighed and said, \"Why don\’t we go and have some hot coffee?\" Suddenly, I realized I didn\’t eat anything for the day and was desperately hungry. Although I didn\’t want to have a coffee with her at that point, but I knew I couldn\’t really do any further searching for Lauren by 8 at night. I looked up and saw the soft silver moonlight beaming down on us. \"Whenever there is a moon, I wish for seeing you. Whenever there isn\’t a moon, I wish for seeing you too.\" I mumbled under my breath. Lauren, I want you to hear this. Don\’t go away!

In the coffee shop, Jane and I were the only customers at that hour. I ordered some snacks and a cup of Expresso. She ordered the same thing as well. As I reached out for my sugar, she \"accidentally\" laid her hand on mine--although I jerked away instinctively. I started adding some sugar in it, she stared at me intently. (Gosh, I felt chills coming from my spine.) \"Is there something on my face?\" I asked tentatively. \"No,\" she said and went back to stirring her coffee. \"Tim,\" she suddenly spoke, \"Do you mind to be my chemistry tutor?\"
\"Me?\" I was not surprised by her question because she wasn\’t the first one asking for such help. Yet I suspected her demand might have meant more than homework help. So i said, \"Um...I feel very flattered when you asked. But right now I am pretty busy with my other subjects, I don\’t think I can help you.\" \"But can I have your phone number in case I have questions regarding that subject?\" \"Uh...Jane, I think it should be more effective if you ask Professor Donalbain directly.\" I tried to pull out some reasonable excuses to stay away from her. \"Tim, what\’s with you?\" She looked somehow insulted, \"I thought we were friends.\" \"Yes, we are. Of course.\" \"Then why can\’t we be closer?\"
\"Jane, you\’re a really great girl. But I prefer to keep an appropriate distance from my girl friends so there won\’t be any misunderstandings.\" \"Why do you care if I don\’t mind?\" \"Jane, I am dating Lauren. Ok? I don\’t want her or anyone else to get the wrong idea.\" She looked vindictive and wrathful. She took her bag and said, \"Well, I just realized that I am supposed to meet David Jonkan at the mall. I better get going now.\" I started to wonder whether this is a tactic girls use when they got rejected by guys. But at that time, I didn\’t have the nerve to poke through her acts. So instead, I just said, \"Good night, Jane. It was nice meeting you today.\" Without a word, she grabbed her coat and left.
I\’ve always thought I was nice and cool with girls. Yet today I realized how blunt and cruel I could be to them after dating Lauren. I wondered if all guys falling in love would become the jerks that they\’ve always hoped they wouldn\’t be. However, I didn\’t feel sorry about it. It wasn\’t my fault anyway. Even though Jane was pretty as a doll and does have a good brain, to me she is still no match to Lauren. I took out my cell phone, dialed her number again. This time was better, her voice mail box was activated. So at least I could leave her a message. (Although on the other hand, it could have meant she knew I would call and she didn\’t wish to answer.)
After the beep sound, my mind sudden blanked out. I didn\’t know what to say, even though I\’ve already thought of a thousand words to express my thoughts the day before. After a while, I said, \"Lauren, look, I haven\’t seen you for almost a month. I am very concerned and I want to know what\’s going on. You don\’t need to tell me anything if you don\’t wish. But at least, show up. Don\’t go away like that. If my love to you is a stress or burden, then at least let me know so I will let you go (although at that point, I barely thought I could have done so). Please, don\’t hide from me like that. You know I am not a very tactful man in terms of dating. I don\’t know how to speak those flowery languages to please you. To some people love is a game, to me I will only do anything for someone I\’ve fallen head over heels with--and that someone is you.\" After giving this mini speech, I pressed the pound key and sent the message.

Another two weeks went by. I still didn\’t see Lauren. My Contemporary Civilization class is having an anual ball tomorrow night. At the beginning, I wanted to go with her. But then, it seemed to me that I will have to go alone. I went back to my dorm and dropped my books on the floor. I sat down on the arm chair and closed my eyes. The warm air coming out from the heat reminded me of Lauren\’s touch. It was always light and gentle, yet very sensual. The night when I got back from the \"fiasco\" with Jane, I splashed the Glacier Bay cologne in every corner of my room. The scent reminded me of her presence. After all, men were born of women. They might think their divine being made them more independent and capable than anyone. Yet such foolhardy fellows were probably never aware that things created by nature were often controlled by their source in one way or another.
The annual ball was located our school\’s best ball room. This year, this ball\’s decoration was very elegant and mysterious in comparison to other classes\’ embellishments, which was really tacky and full of cliches. I was surrounded in a world of colorful candles, which float on the glass plates filled with water. The scent from the candles gave out a mesmerizing aroma. They even hung some thin linen of different purple and pink shades on the ceiling and had someone continually sprinkling flower petals onto the floor. Half the lights in the room were turned off to create a dim, mysterious, yet romantic atmosphere. After conversing with my professors and some of my friends, I walked around and sat in the corner.
Perhaps most guests had arrived, they started playing classic music. I held the glass with one hand, through the golden shade of Champagne I saw someone approaching. As that person came closer and closer, I began to recognize her--Lauren! It was her! I couldn\’t help dropping the glass when I saw her figure. This time I knew it couldn\’t be my hallucination because she was standing right in front of me. So real and close that I could smell the fragrance coming from her.
\"Lauren...\"I said under my breath, still couldn\’t believe what I\’ve just seen. She gave me her hand and said, \"Vamos a bailar, senor? (Spanish: Sir, shall we dance?)\" My mouth was still wide opened, but I still said, \"Con mucho gusto (Spanish: My pleasure).\" I took her hand and we started drifting our steps to the dancing floor. I held her toward me as close as I could, fearing she would vanish in the air the next moment. I couldn\’t help but to stare at her face. Although there were a million questions in my mind, I decided not to ask because I didn\’t want to spoil that night.
\"Why are you holding me this close?\" She smiled, \"Fearing that I will slip away from you?\" I didn\’t know what to say. Her eyes penetrated through mine and I felt as if I had been hypnotized. Meanwhile, some candles around us were blown off, which further darkened the light on us. Simultaneously, we turned our heads and then looked at each other. \"I...I actually feared that when all the candlelight around me were blown off, you will disappear from the light.\" I knew how childish and ridiculous it sounded, yet I couldn\’t help feeling that way.
\"Then I shall make time stop, so the candles won\’t be blown out,\" she whispered, \"Yet even when all the light around us ceased into darkness, the torch of love that\’s inflaming inside our hearts shall guide you to me.\" \"Then make time stop now and then, so our sealing kiss shall never end.\" I whispered and completely eliminated the distance between us--while our lips locked together. I might be at somewhere without light or candles, yet with the sight of a lover, I shall see her whether in darkness or in light.

I wanna know (last chapter) GlacierBay 27 1 01/22 01:54
After the party last night, I went home and was tired as hell. But for some reason, I couldn\’t fall asleep. Instead, I just tossed in bed repetitiously. Was Lauren asleep yet? Even though I was dying to call her, I decided not to become a nuisance in the middle of the night. Finally, around three or four in the morning, I fell asleep. Surprisingly, my cell phone rang around nine. Just when I was about to explode and yell into the phone, I heard my Lit-Hum. professor, old McNoll\’s voice. He was a really funny old fellow. He was both my friend and mentor. \"Tim, are you awake?\" \"Yea,\" I mumbled, although I was still half conscious at that time.
\"Listen, here comes a great news. You won the Essay Contest in English Literature!\" He sounded as if an exploding atomic bomb, which completely woke me up. \"What?\" I rolled up from bed immediately. I\’ve totally forgotten about this contest after submitting my essay. But I could still remember I wrote about how language affects human souls and the most beautiful language often comes from the lips of the most unexpected person. \"You won! You won the First Prize of the Essay Contest!\"He repeated, \"Now, roll off your bed, get dressed, and come to the auditorium right away. You still have 45 minutes to go.\" I quickly hung up the phone, rushed into the bathroom and got dressed in less than five minutes. Then, as I was on my way to the auditorium, I gave Lauren a call, left a message in her voicemail to tell her the good news and told her to wait for me after the award ceremony.
The moment when I grabbed on to the prize bowl, which was all glass, light shimmered on it and penetrated through my eyes. The audience cheered, clapped, and applauded. It felt so good when I looked down from the stage. It was like I had everything right under my feet. I held it up high and gave old McNoll a big hug. At that moment, I really wished Lauren was there. Afterwards, I went to the meeting spot to meet her. She seemed to have arrived early. I easily spotted her sky-blue down jacket. It started snowing. I figured we better go somewhere and have something hot for lunch. \"Hey,\" I patted her shoulderbut it was stiff and tense.
\"Something\’s wrong?\" \"No,\" she shook her head and gave me a nervous smile. \"I got the award!!\" I showed her the glass prize bowl, unaware of anything wrong with her, \"I am so so so happy!! You know, you should\’ve been there! The crowds kept on cheering and applauding...\" \"Tim,\" she interrupted me, \"I have something to tell you.\" \"Ok, what?\" I still didn\’t sense anything wrong, \"wait, let me guess. Hmm...You wanted to give me a big kiss, don\’t you? If that\’s the case, go right ahead.\" I closed my eyes, waiting for the real \"prize.\" \"Let\’s breakup.\" She said simply. \"What?\" I opened my eyes abruptly, hoping I heard the wrong thing.
\"I got transferred to Massachusetts. I submitted the tranfer request for a while. Just several weeks ago, I received their admissions letter,\" she explained, staring at the ground. \"And...you want to go?\" I asked tentatively. \"Yes,\" she said, \"I\’ve always dreamed about going to that college. Now I finally got in.\" \"Oh,\" I mumbled, my heart felt a glass menagerie shattering into pieces. \"I am sorry. I am so sorry,\" she said, \"But this is a really great opportunity.\" \"But what does it have to do with us? We can still be together. We can still stay in touch through e-mails, calls, or even ocassional visits.\" I tried a million reasons to make her recant her decision. \"Tim, getting into the best college is no joke. I need to concentrate on my work and not being distracted by anything,\" she said, \"and I am sorry to disappoint you like this.\" \"I don\’t understand.\"
\"We are from two different worlds. I have to admit that you are the best, the very best man I\’ve ever loved. I felt really great when you were with me. And I know I will never have the same feeling for another man again. But we must face it. Up until this point I love my career more than anything, including you,\" she looked at me with guilt. I was speechless. The snow flakes fell on our hair, eye lashes, and jackets. Yet I ignored the cold and stood there motionless.
\"I shall remember you,\" she said, then kissed my lips. My limbs were stiff and didn\’t embrace her, I knew she would go away no matter what. Her lips were just as soft as last night, but that kiss somehow tasted bitter in a way, just like a cup of coffee with neither milk nor sugar. Her face was wet. I couldn\’t tell whether it was from the melting ice or her tears because my sight was blurred by a sudden mist of sadness.
After a long, long time, we finally led go of each other. \"You said when you leave, you won\’t let me see it. So now, as the beginning, we will turn around on each other\’s back and walk in opposite directions. We can\’t turn our heads back once we turned around.\" I tried to state it calmly. I took the award that I left on the bench, took a final look at it, and flung it onto the ground. The glass shattered into pieces, with some snow falling and melting on it. Suddenly, they look like a million drops of tears. \"Tim!\" she gasped.
\"It\’s a piece of meaningless junk after all,\" I said. I turned her around and then did the same myself. Let\’s start get going. \"I stepped onto some glass pieces. The cracking sound shrieked in the air. I kept walking and walking without turning back, leaving a trail of broken glasses and tears.
After that day, I switched my major from English Literature to Economics. Yet I still ocassionally date girls of my old major. As I walked into the CD store that Lauren and I\’ve met and heard our love theme song, I wondered if she had been listening to the same song simultaneously. If our love could be compared to a candle, I supposed the flame in my heart has already been blown out and forgotten.

I wanna know (epilogue) GlacierBay 39 5 01/23 10:13 Lauren,
For all my life I\’ve been a nerd working with numbers, theories, and reasoning. I always seek for answers to solve problems. I always look for reasons to explain certain spectacles. I forgot how many times have I spent in my life trying to figure out where did reasons come from. They come from people\’s points of views. But I realized love is something that can never be reasoned. Most people think I am nothing but a fool who tried to pursue something unreal for no reason. Yet I never regreted once about what I\’ve done. For you are my reason. You are all my reasons for my motivation and action. Up until today I still appreciate it because you are the light that brighten up my mind. You showed me the most wonderful thing in life, and that is love, an affection with no reason, an unconditional dedication, and a passion that one will never give up. Wish you the best of everything.
Tim
