Hello , ladies and gentlemen:
This is what I experienced this morning and I think you may get something from it. In my opinion, it is a wonderful English class. In order to make it clearly, I will state it in the third person and the first person with asides. Ok, let’s come to the point.(We just talked about our creative inventions in the English class, for example, Mr. Better invented a magic coat that does not need washing, can keep you warm in winter and cool in summer, what’s more, its energy comes from mirobattery. Suddenly our door opened and a couple of Americans came in, they looked that they endured the hardships of a long journey and brought us some cold fresh air outside. They hugged Mrs.Hess and said hello to us, then Mrs.Hess our English teacher introduced them, her friends to us in short. )
The lady began to take Hess’s position to address us introducing her families.
“ hello, it is my great honor to be China (“ welcome to China “ with applauses and whistles with ). Now we are teachers in the Tongji university and I teaching masters , my husband instruct ph.Ds.His name is George w. pace and mine is Diane. We , my husband and I came from Brigham young university and we both graduated from it ( her husband smiled and mopped to us saying :” oh, that’s one hundred years ago”). We met in the university and fell in love with each other and were married. I know that in China there is only one child in one family, which is different from America ( she drew symbols of girl and boys on our blackboard). Can you imagine how many children we have now? ok , let me tell you their names and say it again please. My eldest daughter, her name is Debbie, another daughter karolla…( she drew one by one, oh, my god, there are 7 girls on the blackboard now). aha, what else? If you are for that the next one is girl, please raise your right hand, or put up your left hand. Ok, let’s counting how many children we have, one , two, three, five……twelve, two boys and ten girls.( some classmates just murmured :” she is a hero mother if she was a Chinese). Wow, can you guess how many grandchildren we have, 37 hehe. Our youngest daughter just married a man before we came to China. ( her husband gave out the pictures of their families to us. It is a pity I could not scan it to show you). It is our dream to have 12 children and we had, yes, we did have 12 children.China is a great country and we have three reasons to come here. Because America is another great country and we should become friends. Another reason, we spread English here and we enjoyed our life knowing more things about different culture at the same time.”
The gentleman continued
“ hello, my friends, now I am 73 years old and my wife is 68, while my eldest daughter is 46 years old and youngest daughter is 22. (pulling his wife into his arms). She is the greatest mother and the only one greatest wife I met. Everything is wonderful and the world is great. In the Tongji University, I asked my students a question ‘ what is the purpose of life’. The answer is to be happy!!! I think there are four most important things you must concern in your life to keep yourself be happy( in the same time, he approached some of my classmates and hugged them or just patted on their shoulders).
>>One is mind, to develop your mind. Learn everything around you and the more you learn, the more you are rich. China needs your talent, so try to learn more. For example, you can learn from newspapers, books and everything including culture and technical knowledge.>>Two is to take good care of your body( what? Money, my classmates asked loudly). Not money but body. If you have healthy, then you have hope and you have everything( oh, in China, we always say:’ body is money, capital’. One shouted). Be careful what you eat and you drink. Please do not smoke, especially, do not take drugs. Do exercises in your spare time. Take I as an example, I like climbing mountains and I climbed Taishan, Huangshan and I do exercises in the morning. If it is convenient, you can ride bicycles, jog, swim, play badminton or do everything you like. >>Three is to be sociable, that is, to make friends and learn something from them. For example, this is the first time I meet Anne, I will say hello to her and shake hands with her. Gradually we become friends and I want to know more about her, her families, her happiness and her experience. You see, when you are happy, just share it with your friends, then you both are happy. >>Four is to be kind. Be kind to everyone you meet, no matter she or he is poor or rich, beautiful or ugly. Please do not say words to hurt people, because everyone is important in the world and is special to the others. You see, in the Tongji Univesity, one day on that campus I met a old couple arm- in- arm who were both bow-backed with unfashionable clothes. I approached them and said :’ni hao’ to them hugging that man’s neck. The next day I met a handsome boy who was riding to me. He got down and said ‘thank you’ to me once again, because it is the first time for his parents to come this city from the west and I was the first foreigner they met and said ‘ni hao’ to them. They are so glad that we took photos together.”
( these two friends have to catch the bus to our new campus, then they just hugged Hess and song this as well as we.Mrs.Hess, we love youEverything you say and do.Mrs.HessSo kind and true,We love you.Our English class continued. It is Miss candy’s turn to describe her invention- imaginary mirrorWhen you stand before it, you can become younger and pretty………….)
