Naive words from a little boy.

Part one: ***My son had known saying Mummy and Daddy since he was able to speak and knew the meanings of them well. One day some time later, I taught him the words “Father” and Mother” in English at home and then told him that Father meant papa Mother meant mama , and then later I asked him to repeat them again and again by himself while I was reading my book beside him. To my big surprise ! Suddenly I heard some words from his mouth like this:

Papa--Father,Mama--Mother. Yeye—Ye-ther. Nainai—Nai-ther…..”

( Mary, Yeye is the pronunciation of grandfather in Chinese ,and Nainai is the pronunciation of grandmother in Chinese) ***Last year, I ever took conversational English course for two terms in an university of our city. I ever brought my son to my university several times when we held evening parties and chit-chat corner. So he knew the position of this university well. One day when we were on the bus passing that university ,he suddenly bursted out a word loudly.

" Mummy, See! That is your kindergarten!”

Everyone around us on the bus turned head to us and laughed loudly. *** In September of last year. We went to Beijing for a trip. On a raining morning during that time, we went out after breakfast. But later we found it was colder than we could bear.Considering we did not wear enough clothes we decided to take a taxi going back to the hotel .After a small talk , my husband went to sleep and I was watching TV programme . Suddenly my little son came up to me and said ,

" Mummy, Don’t watch TV, watch me!”

“Why? “ I asked him smilingly and surprisingly .

“I am a TV set, Look at my performance!” he replied.

Then he excitedly acted all kinds of actions of superman according to the little book’s instructions in his hand.

*****Part two: Last night I heard a murmure from his mouth beside us,” terrorist”

“What? Terrorist?? How come you know this? What does ‘terrorist ‘ mean? “ I asked him a little bit strictly.

“ Means a bad man”

“Who told you this?”

“The Guard Uncle Cai”……..

***“Mummy, Mummy, what does Iraq mean? Iraq, Iraq, why so many people in TV always say Iraq these day?”…

*****Actually I sometimes don't know what to describe my son in words.Seems any adjectives I know cannot express my meanings and feelings about this little boy.So most of the time I just use a very simple word " super" to picture him .He did say many many words funny, naive and interesting in our daily life and made a lot of fun for us. He might not understand exactly many things in life, even include those words he spoke out.

I sometimes ponder for a while after hearing his navie words.

Through the words he said like the part one , I think like this:

Child is creative, naive and active.Child thinks of things mainly in his only way but showing his own thoughts.Child is good at performing himself and likes to be encouraged and likes to be praised...

Through the words he said like the part two, I think it like this way:

Thing is always changing. World is changing all the time. He grows up in the very different time from my childhood. How wide does he look at this world? How deep does he understand the things happened around him? What's the best way to guide him to be a fine and excellent man?

Well, dear friends, what do you think of it? Welcome your comments!

(By the way, I hope Mary,Feier and Moon girl will read this article, for I promised them to write something about my little boy)

Thanks.:-)

Sally
