Dear Panpanpan,
You wrote, in response to my post about our Earth being fifty million years older than we thought that "we humans may only be a flash in the pan."
The life of each of us is like a flash in the pan in comparison to the life of this planet, or of our sun. The life of the whole human race on this planet is much longer, but is probably a flash in the pan, too, as is even the life of our planet Earth, and our Sun, in the life of this endless creation.
It is all relative. A moth has a full life in its own sphere, although it is just a day or two in ours. The same is true of the normal life span of every creature.
Baha'u'llah wrote: "Know thou that every fixed star hath its own planets, and every planet its own creatures, whose number no man can compute." The creatures which Baha'u'llah states to be found in every planet cannot be considered to be necessarily similar or different from human beings on this earth. Baha'u'llah does not specifically state whether such creatures are like or unlike us. He simply refers to the fact that there are creatures in every planet. It remains for science to discover one day the exact nature of these creatures.
He also said that humans are like the "soul" to this planet, and that it wouldn't be complete without this highest level of life. The human spirit does not have to look like us at all in order to exist elsewhere, with all the same powers and potential that we have.
I conclude that there will eventually be humans, with the same level of potential human powers as we have on every planet that orbits a fixed star. They may not resemble us, or some of them may, or they may not exist simultaneously with us. It would depend on the degree of development of their planet, and when it and its sun, came into existence.
I conclude that there has always been the human level of development in this endless universe, because it is the level necessary to make each planet complete. Humans are like the soul to any planet orbiting a fixed star.
Every planet may not have its full range of creatures yet, or may have had them in the past, and now they may be perishing with their planet and its sun. A lot depends on the age of the planet, For instance, in our solar system, Mercury could still be too hot for the full range of development, and Mars could still be too cold for it. As our sun wanes, Mercury will become cooler and development may complete. In the past, our sun was hotter, I believe, and maybe then Mars had its full and flourishing range of life. These are all my own speculations about the strength or waning of a sun bringing various planets into their own.
This endless universe is incredibly old, and as long as there were planets, which has benn forever, some place in this creation there has had to be a spirit level of mineral, vegetable, animal, human on each.
The power of the mineral spirit has the ability of cohesion. The power of the vegetable spirit has the power of developmental growth. The power of spirit in the animal kingdom is the power of the senses and whatever it can determine through them. The power of the human spirit gives the power to comprehend that which is beyond its senses. Humans are the highest development on this planet, and are like the soul to this planet. Humans, having passed through childhood, are just nearing the stage of their maturity on this planet and among the signs of this will be humans cooperating all over the world, and doing away with war by making the necessary arrangements to prevent it, the use of a universal language, and communications systems, and the ability to manipulate matter to make the various materials needed.
Having now almost reached early maturity, the human race has a lot of developing still to do. The next span of development is for the next five hundred thousand years. Without this highest human level the planet would be incomplete.
The same is true of every planet circling a fixed star, that has ever existed, or will ever exist.
Mars has been shown now to have water at certain seasons. Where water is there should be life. Therefore the next Mars probe is going to search for it.
I wonder if other people find this topic as interesting as I do?
Warm greetings to all, Mary
