Dear friends,
Welcome! You will learn a lot of English if you read and write often on this friendly forum, where no one will ever laugh at you.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: FROM NOW ON I WILL NOT HELP PEOPLE WHO DON'T READ THIS POST. I CAN TELL BECAUSE THEY DON'T TRY AT ALL TO SPELL, AND THEY DON'T DO ANY OF THE THINGS RECOMMENDED BELOW. I WILL ONLY HELP THOSE WHO TRY.
THERE ARE MANY OTHER THINGS I PREFER TO DO HERE RATHER THAN WRITE THE SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN EACH DAY.
IF YOU FIND THIS TOO HARD TO DO, PLEASE GO TO ANDY'S COLUMN. IT IS FOR BEGINNERS. YOU MAY WRITE IN CHINESE THERE, AND ASK QUESTIONS.
Thanks! Mary
Now I will show those of you who have stayed here how to immediately improve your English before you even write your first post. :-)
This is an example from one new friend:
this is my first come here,my english is poor and the pronunciation is also weak. Can tell me how to improve English ? i wanna take the CET-4.how can I pass the exam. many thanks, mary *********
See below for how this post looks when these first things have been done to it,
*It has been addressed. That means "Dear -----" has been added. This is important.
*It has been signed. That means the name of the sender, Newcomer, has been added to the end. This is important, too. Sign your posts, please.
*capital letters are used on formal names
*punctuation is put immediately behind the word it follows
*the chat group word "wanna" is removed
*one blank line is left between the salutation, "Dear -----" and the message, which is called the body of the post.
*one blank line should be left between complimentary ending (the thanks, or best wishes, etc.) and the signature, (your name)
Chat group words aren't to be used on the forum. Please examine carefully all changes made to this post, and begin to do the same. Make these changes into your habits. They are things you MUST do, to write good English.
Below is the corrected post. No words were changed. Doesn't it look more professional, and like much better English? It really *is* better English!. Learn from it. :-)
