I love ancient Chinese verses
Like many other friends in this forum, I am a lover of ancient Chinese written language too. For me ,the ancient verses are specially exquisite and wonderful in Chinese literature, which is too attractive to be described in English words .(hehe, I am also an English fan, so I have to prove both my English and Chinese composition ability). However, I have never written any verses in old styles until I read the articles of a friend about how to compose ancient verses in this forum.. I used to think that it was really pedantry for one today to write ancient Chinese verses .Just like a saying , “love me, love my dog(爱屋及乌)”,when I read his articles, I was deeply attracted. Perhaps for this reason that I changed my idea about old verses composition. It was his article that brought me a great change from simple reading to writing verses.
My verses were always written according to my topic Chinese articles, My first verse described my lonely life, titled by “separate flying swallow”(《分飞燕》)。Since I was a beginner and did not understand more about the prescriptive rhyme (韵律)for verses, my first version of it was written freely. In the meantime, I was happy to meet another friend who was somewhat an expert in ancient verses. He was friendly to help me with the rhyme table(词谱表),and that how to compose a right verse conforming to the rhyme. Under the guidance of many friends, my revised version won high praise with much encouragement from them. Please permit me to show one for you: 忆秦娥 * 分飞燕
春夜叹,影人犹演分飞燕。分飞燕,羞风与月,雨疏云淡。 凝眸总作深情看,缠绵缱绻相思黯。相思黯,鸳鸯枕畔,臂弯还暖! Just like reading ancient verses, to write a verse was so exciting that I always wrote them deep into night. One ancient verse of mine described my happy feeling:
五绝 诗词古韵长,旧梦又新张。 走笔流连处,悠然夜未央。 I love reading ancient Chinese verses as well as writing them now!
