Dear Happy Sack,
I hope you can transfer some of your hard-won wisdom to our still unhappy and mourning friend, Swallow. Your approach to life is so positive I expect you may already have caused some of us to try your path. From the beginning you caught many of our hearts in the net of your exhilarating words. I couldn't reply because I was unwell, but with the help of penicillin things now seem to be improving
. :-)
You and Swallow can't help but be stronger than many who were never tested so hard. I hope that what I think may make you even happier, and strengthen Swallow in her will to live.
This is my understanding of what happened when your fathers left this world, and
how things are with them now. Your fathers' deepest inner selves didn't just die and disappear back into the earth. Of course, their material bodies stayed here to be recycled because they borrowed for them from here. The material stuff
of this world stays in this material universe and is continually recycled.
The part of them that used their material brains, but was greater than their brains, is active and alive in a different sort of existence. They still know and
care about you, and about your mothers who, together with them, brought you into
your existence in the first world of the womb. They still remember all those that they loved, and their lives in this world of being.
This material world we are in and they have gone from is the second world; the first one was the womb-world. Their present experience now is in what we could call the third world. Some people call that third existence "heaven." But I think that's a misleading word because those people take everything said about it so literally. They believe there really are angels with wings flying around, harps, choirs, eternal rest, and so on, even though such words were used metaphorically to give us a glimpse of conditions that can't be explained because they're
so different from anything we've ever known.
In the first little world of our mother's womb we grew and developed, until we were equipped with all we needed in order to live in this world. When we were born into this vastly wider, more wonderful world, lungs, hands and feet and all that we had been growing became useful. "Dying" to this world is like being born
into that third stage of life that we have been preparing for here. We have chances to make inner growth through tests and difficulties, and our various choices, using the amount of free will allowed here in this "soul school" world. It'
s important to become what we need to be for that next existence.
What a person can take along into that other world with them is completely non-material. The part that carries this is also what works through the brain and the senses, but it can also find things out that aren't evident to the senses. It
's the part that makes us humans, not animal that are bounded by their senses and their instincts.
Anything that isn't good in us can't pass through into that world. We also get
to know what the outcome through all time was from our deeds here. That's why it's important to stay here, even when things get hard, and not kill yourself. Otherwise you stop all the wonderful things that could have come through your actions. The old classic movie "It's a Wonderful Life" is a good example of that.
The next world isn't bounded by time and space. To me that means that all time
and all space is accessible for exploration. Our "self" here, if we have developed well has received whatever is needed to learn, progress and develop further
in an endless and useful journey of life.
Dear Sack, I don't think this understanding goes against Marxism any more than
your advice to pray goes against it. I hope all the good things of Marxism will
grow and flourish in this material world so that life will become better for everybody, and material resources will be more equally shared among all our human
family in every part of this world. My understanding is that human physical evolution has finally ended now, and humanity's spiritual evolution is just beginning.
I've written about this before you were here. It's very interesting to me and there is a lot more that can be said about it but I think this is enough to be a
useful addition to your thinking, and that it also may comfort you, Swallow, and
give you the strong incentive to stay here and take your part in the future of
humanity.
With affection for both of you,
Mary
