Dear Yilufeiyang,
Your remarks were very sincere and important. I have learned something about this subject by trying to live this way. It isn't easy and I forget, or fail, but
it has been enough to make a big difference in the happiness of me and my familyand others aroung us.
Anybody can start to begin to live this way. It helps if you know that it is part of "The Golden Rule." If you believe these are what the great Being wants from you, it is easier to remember and to do. The "Five rules for Happiness"
are pure spiritual advice. Lenin wrote "religion is the opium of the people."
That can be true when a religion is in its winter.
Religions go through their periods of spring, summer, autumn and finally winter
like the seasons and everything else. About every thousand years when the world
is getting barbaric, greedy and cruel, the religion of God is renewed in a new
springtime, the ice breaks up, warmth starts to return, people search for meaning, and gradually everything changes and develops into the flowering of new life
in a renewed civilization. This time it will be a world civilization.
This world has been in a long cold winter, but the new springtime of relgion has
come again. That's why there has been so much ferment, scientific discoveries
and ever-accelerating change during the 20th century just passed. It's the action of "the new wine" that has been "poured into old bottles" as Jesus described
the effect when He was here on earth. The 20th century has experienced more change and discovery than ten past centuries. There is a good reason for it, and the change and development will continue to accelerate because we are in a whole new and developing springtime.
You will find that your life and those around you will gradually change for the
better as you try to:
1. Free your heart from hatred2. Free your mind from worries3. Live simply4. Give more
5. Demand less, expect miracles in life
How can a person live this way if around them the harshness and cruelty of theirlives seem to be against these rules and make some of them impossible? If you
are interested, please read Part Two.
Warmly, Mary
