Dear Forum Friends
Last night I dreamed I was at a large dinner. I was told that I was one of the speakers. My topic "ELECRICITY" , time allowed to speak 2 minutes. I was also told:" You are on in about ten minutes" . What was I to do. I decided to just go with what it means to me. Here is my addres:" Honorored Dignitaries, Dear Guests.
What is Electricity? To me it Light and Power. Modern life without it is not thinkable. It lights our houses and streets and powers our machines and trains and
computers, don't forget them. Without electricity computers can not exist. See what a Blackout (Power failure) caused in New York some years back. A complete standstill of life. People trapped in high buildings and elevators. They could not
get back to their homes either because transit was not running.
Without electricity food would spoil in our refrigerators and stores. Food distribution as we know it today waould not even be possible. Neither would Skyscrapers in the worlds big cities like Shang Hai be possible. It was not always like this. Who invented this marvelous Electricity? It was not invented. It was merely
discovered, It always existed, witness the awsome discharge of power when Lightning strikes! Electricity when generated from waterfalls or dams is not polluting. When generated by turbines powered by oil and coal, pollution is still an unsolved problem. But in short we can not imagine our world without electricity.
It was not always like that, I can still remember in my childhood home we still
had one gaslight lamp from before electricity came. The streetlights were gaslights. A lamplighter would come at dusk nand light the lights with a long pole. Many farms in our part of Germany were only bgetting electricity before the war broke out. This century just passed is the Century of Light. The coming of the Manifaestation of God for this day relased such an immense power, that all kinds of inventions and the discovery of electricity were possible. This is my belief as a Baha'i. We should all be thankfull for the gifts we were given and take for
granted today. Thank You for the opportunity to share my thoughts."
Did I give this speach? I woke up before I had my turn. dreams are like that. It
was 4:30 in the morning. I decided to share my talk it with you. So you might say that I did,
