本名为 Ioana Mouskouri，以亲友暱称的小名 Nana 为艺名，父亲在她14岁生日送了一台收音机当作礼物，藉著播放出的歌曲，利用拼音的方式记下各国发音之流行曲目。进入雅典音乐学院就读后，为了贴补家用，开始四处演唱赚取微薄收入，一路颠簸的出道经历，直至1959年参加第一届希腊音乐节歌唱比赛获得冠军，才正式展开 Nana不凡的音乐生涯。1961年为影片「Greece: Land od Dreams」演唱 'Weisse Rosen Aus Athen'，造成空前轰动，「雅典白玫瑰」之美名不脛而走。虽然曾受过古典发声训练，但她也跨越到其他音乐领域，60年代跟著 Quincy Jones琢磨歌艺，发行英文专辑，70年代的 Nana 藉由唱片、演唱会甚至电视节目的引导下，整个欧洲、澳洲、加拿大甚至亚洲地区，皆沉迷在 Nana如天籟的嗓音中！连民谣之父 Bob Dylan在观看她的演唱会后，也感动谱写出'Every Grain of Sand' 送给 Nana。

Little can be said about one of the most beautiful voices on earth! I feel privileged to have seen her perform 4 times here in Greece and every-time I realize what a great artist and person she is! Many compare her with sopranos, mezzos but Nana's voice is unique and very different from opera voices (I am a big opera fan). She can sings all kinds of music from Jazz to Pop, from Classical to Folk and the result is always special enriched with her personal touch.
This is one of her great collections. I especially admire "Only love", "Even now" and her version of "I have a dream" but the rest are certainly not less wonderful.
