2000年正式成立的Menomena，是一支来自波特兰的实验摇滚乐队。Brent Knopf、Justin Harris和Danny Seim三个人高中时就认识，Brent Knopf上完大学回到波特兰后，他们就成立了Menomena。他们每个人都是主唱，每个人都精通各种乐器。
而真正令人兴奋的是，Brent Knopf自己设计了一套叫做Digital Looping Recorder的电脑程序，简称Deeler。他们用这个来创作歌曲。 然后通过这个程序来决定，如何把做好的音乐用乐器演奏出来，用来做现场表演。大部分人是先用乐器，然后再用电脑加工，Menomena完全和一般的乐队反著，但他们还是做的很好。
2003年，他们自主发行了DIY专辑《I Am The Fun Blame Monster!》，专辑的封面什么的完全是手工制作的，而每首歌据说都用到了十种乐器以上。 后来他们将专辑交由一些网上商店来销售，但依然延续了手工制作的方案，直到波特兰独立音乐公司FILMguerrero正式向全国发行了这张作品。
2005 年，FILMguerrero公司又发行了Menomena的第二张专辑《Under An Hour》，这张专辑只有三首歌，但每一首长度都超过17分钟。
2007年，他们转由Barsuk Records发行了他们的第三张专辑《Friend & Foe》，这张专辑备受独立/实验音乐届的好评。这张专辑的工业设计也特别有趣，据说又是密信又是警报铃的，封面设计由著名漫画家Craig Thompson完成。
