这部作品根据Aaron McGruder的同名实事漫画作品改编，讲述一个非洲裔美国家庭从芝加哥搬到首都华盛顿郊区，因生活与文化衝突而遇到的各种问题。动画前两季分别制作於 2005年和2007年，在Cartoon Network 播放成人动画的Adult Swim频道播出，但因片中使用的粗俗的语言和涉及的种族歧视问题饱受争议。
另值得一提的是，这部动画的制作过程全部在韩国完成，其绘画与创作风格也颇受日韩动漫的影响。
