8月5日，Team 17公布了《百战天虫》系列最新作《百战天虫：重装上阵(Worms Reloaded)》的更多细节和游戏截图，并郑重宣布，本作将不再采用前几作的3D场景，而改为回归到经典的2D，高清的2D画面将带给老玩家全新的视觉享受。
《百战天虫》系列其实从来都不需要3D，Team 17近年在制作了数款3D版的《百战天虫》后，终于意识到了这点，决心从《百战天虫：重装上阵》开始回归到经典的2D。本作也是PC上这十年中首部2D版《百战天虫》。
《百战天虫：重装上阵》中将提供45种以上的武器，60个单人任务，还将附带关卡创作工具，并且还提供了一套个性化系统。图像方面，游戏将采用2D高清画面，效果如何我们可以从本次公布的截图中看到。
游戏的研发总监Martyn Brown在介绍游戏时说道，“《百战天虫：重装上阵》是制作小组回归到经典怀旧的一作。算起来，本作距离上一部2D系列作品已经有几乎10年的时差了。在《百战天虫：重装》中，我们除了回归到2D外，还将玩家们津津乐道的经典元素再次加入到了游戏中。另外，本作也是近年来我们公司首个自己负责发行的游戏。我们非常期待和玩家们一起不断的完善这个游戏。”
根据官方公布的情报，《百战天虫：重装上阵》PC版将于8月26日在正版下载平台Steam上发售。目前已经可以进行预订，预订了游戏的玩家可以提前24小时进入游戏，以及获得特殊道具。
