Suzanne Vega is somebody who I've known since the early 90's, and only for her two big hits, Luka and Tom's Diner. I bought a compilation (Tried And True) a couple of years back and liked it but recently I've tried some of her albums and this one is quite special. Suzanne's trademark icy vocals/phrasing and beautiful lyrics are present here but a lot of new instruments and sound effects are added. The percussion is is much more in the mix. loads of clattering sounds and industrial noises that are hard to place but give that album that "bite". Together with the keyboard work from producer Mitchell Froom and some wonderful bass, this is just quite a different sounding Vega then her first three albums. Her fanbase seems divided about the results but I'm really falling in love with this album now and there is still so much to discover. There are also some more old school tracks on this album like Bad Wisdom and Song Of Sand wich are definitely two of the best songs she has ever recorded in my opinion.

The artwork is quite nice as well and compliments some of the songs exellent.
