Maschine是一个节奏工作站，还内置了鼓音序器、采样和loop切片功能，它也是Native Instruments在软硬件整合方面的最新成果。其Maschine软件可以独立运行，也可作为AU/VST/RTAS插件运行。而Maschine 硬件（如图1）则是一个纯粹的Maschine软件的MIDI控制器，当然它也可以作为普通的MIDI控制器控制任何音乐软件。
NI显然很希望Maschine用起来有Akai MPC的感觉，再加上它又可以与软件音乐工作站一起工作，那么获得比MPC更大的成功似乎是理所应当的。尽管硬件本身不能发出声音，但硬件和插件紧密的结合就让你感觉真的在用一个独立的硬件，操作和功能用起来却是很棒，而且NI还承诺在今年内还会为Maschine加入更多功能。
