「新霸王诞生，帝国势力更强大」
《Overlord2》游戏源於罗马帝国的崛起，故事发生在大约前作的50～100年后，玩家所扮演的角色是前作中霸王的后人。在上一个霸王离开后没多久，新的霸王来到了这片大陆，帝国变得更加强大，用它更强的军事实力到处捕猎所有被认为存在威胁的魔法生物。
在游戏中，玩家扮演著率领小嘍囉搞破坏的大魔王，只不过因为破坏过头了，竟然引起整个罗马帝国的反抗。所以这次玩家要面对的不再只是零星的村庄或游击队，而是面对一个帝国的庞大军事力量，面对这么强大的劲敌挑战，玩家可以抗衡得了吗？现在霸王的世界已经变成一个完全不同的地方，除了前作中被蹂躪的乡野地带外，这次还会有冰雪覆盖的地方，以及热带岛屿等待玩家探索。
「新一代霸主：全新体验，全新感受」
《Overlord2》游戏制作人Lennart Sas表示：「《Overlord2》大大的拓展了前作原有的内容」，他表示游戏主角将呈现出一个全新的风格。在前作资料片《Overlord：Raising Hell》中的最后一幕，新一代霸王与看似罗马帝国的大军衝突的场面，即和本作《Overlord2》有个不少的关联。《Overlord2》不像前作让玩家置身全幻想式的大陆，而是较类似现实生活的场景，玩家对於游戏中的幽默与讽刺内容也较能感同身受，在游戏中都以讽刺的手法略有著墨。
既然有全新的霸王和帝国级的对手，游戏环境当然也将更多元。在《Overlord2》中有许多全新的大陆，像是：极寒的Nordberg大陆，在那里霸王的嘍囉们将面临被封印的威胁；新的魔法庇护领地，聚集了被帝国大军追杀而逃亡至此的魔法生物们；另外还包含了帝国军本身的领土与城市，最终霸王也要深入敌境、大肆毁灭。
「嘍囉智慧更高明，作战能力大幅提升」
《Overlord2》最有趣的地方，就是让玩家所扮演的角色并不像一般游戏总是正义的一方，在《Overlord2》玩家则是扮演邪恶的魔王，率领一群小嘍囉到处烧杀掳掠。随著等级的提升，玩家身边的小嘍囉数量就会愈多、愈聪明，当然游戏起来也会愈有趣。
在本作中将会有更多不一样的游戏场景，更增加了多种嘍囉种类。在前作资料片《Overlord：Raising Hell》中，小嘍囉们还会跟霸王反抗、抱怨，玩家还得花时间训练牠们的忠诚度，本次游戏中的嘍囉们不但对新一代的霸王言听计从，更具破坏力与学习力，牠们学会了骑乘能力，可以骑上其他动物或魔法生物，甚至可以控制机器、操作战舰，以增强自身的作战能力。
