Fans of Diana Krall don't need to be told about her surprisingly deep
and husky voice or that she's in supreme control at the piano. Those
who are yet to be charmed by this Canadian singer-songwriter have
every chance to acquaint themselves with these aspects of Krall in
tonight's concert - recorded last year on the opening night of the
25th Montreal Jazz Festival.
There are five songs co-written with husband Elvis Costello and a few
standards such as All or Nothing at All, but the highlight is the
rendition by Krall and her band of Temptation by Tom Waits. The
epitome of understated cool.
The show is 90 minutes long and you don't need to be glued to the box
at every moment. Just imagine you're in a jazz club: relax, share an
occasional word with the person next to you, order another snack ...
