《哥特王朝》（Gothic）1代至3代的开发商PiranhaBytes宣布了他们的最新作《Risen》（复苏）将于2009年10月2日在PC、xbox360上推出。《RISEN》的故事是以中世纪时代为背景，发生在名为Mediterranean的巨大火山岛上。整个游戏剧情共分成四个章节，并依据玩家的行为与决定，采多重路线来发展故事的走向。研发小组并宣称，由于整个世界的呈现都是采用stream技术，因此不会有长时间的资料载入而中断玩家的兴致，就像是在真实的世界中行走、与真实的人物们互动一样。至于在战斗的部份，玩家可使用的招式，会随着主角的技能等级一起成长；若累积的技能点数越多时，就会呈现出更多流畅优雅的战斗招式。有趣的是，为了增加这款角色扮演游戏的挑战性，研发小组除了设计有复杂多变的天候系统之外，还在场景的一些地方安排了有毒与危险的植物；若玩家不慎踏入或接近时，就会受到伤害。
