幕后制作
这部影片拍摄于二次世界大战英军遭德军重创之时，劳伦斯·奥利弗也在军中服务。英国政府为鼓舞军民士气，免除他的军役，劝说他将莎士比亚的《亨利五世》改编为电影，并特许众多在军中服役的演员参与演出。影片上映后仅伦敦就连续放映十一个月。影片基本保留了原剧的舞台演出形式，并复原了莎士比亚时代剧场演出的情景。奥利弗说：“拍摄莎剧，需要一些新的技巧，或者说，至少要放弃一些旧的技巧。你不需要拍摄玩弄花招的镜头。”“如果你有好的演员，有莎士比亚的台词，你不需要这些来维持观众的兴趣。有许多场景，拍摄时摄影机几乎不必动。”“当一场戏逐渐达到高潮时，镜头越推越近的常用技巧必须颠倒过来用。”影片曾获得1947年奥斯卡最佳影片等四项提名。
