"The Prisoner" is a unique piece of television. Over seventeen episodes we witness a war of attrition between the faceless forces behind 'The Village' (a Kafkaesque community somewhere between Butlins and Alcatraz) and its most strong willed inmate, No. 6. who struggles ceaselessly to assert his individuality while plotting to escape from his captors.
1967年英国BBC十七集悬疑科幻剧《囚徒》是「悬疑科幻」这一电视剧类型的开创者，经典的《X档案》（X-Files）、大红大紫的《迷失》（Lost），乃至今天人们津津乐道的《危机边缘》（Fringe）、《未来闪影》（FlashForward），都得尊称《囚徒》一声「祖师爷」。概念缔造者为PatrickMcGoohan；故事中没有具体的国籍，主人公是该国一名特工,因「突然辞职」而遭人囚禁，被「流放」到某个「遥远的小山村」,讲述冷战时期，东西方利益集团都在非常紧张的时刻，毫无理由却突然辞职的秘密特工六号(Number 6)被关押在了一个地方，而看守审问他的人就是二号(Number 2)。
AMC即将于11月15日-17日（北京时间16日-18日每晚播出两集）播出的六集迷你剧《囚徒》（The Prisoner），就是根据这部1967年英国同名剧集改编的一部悬疑科幻迷你剧。
