出 生美国伊利诺伊州乡下，Gretchen母亲产下她时仅有16岁,，从小就没有好环境让她渡过正常的童年岁月，Gretchen居无定所，只有念到国中程度 就缀学讨取生活费。1996年支身前往美国乡村乐集散地Nashville，试图寻求音乐发展机会，直到被Big Kenny和John Rich二人组合发掘，穿针引线介绍给Epic，立刻赢得一纸合约，在2004年率先打出投石问路单曲〈Redneck Woman〉，反应热烈的让原本预计在七月份才要上市的专辑《Here For The Party》，被迫提早到五月发行，甫发行立即飙上乡村榜冠军宝座 + 流行专辑榜亚军，总突破五百万张销售量，登上当年Billboard专辑销售总成绩第五名位置。趁着余温尚存之际推出第二张专辑《All Jacked Up》，雄霸全美专辑榜冠军，发行一个月后，立即突破百万大关，抱走一座CMA乡村音乐「年度最佳女歌手」大奖。

2010 collection from the Country star who exploded onto the music scene in 2004 with her smash hit 'Redneck Woman'. She has since scored three #1 albums with Here For The Party , All Jacked Up, and One Of The Boys, making her one of three Country artists in SoundScan history whose first three albums all debuted at #1. The critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter has won virtually every award for which she's been nominated, including Female Vocalist of the Year from both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music, two awards each from the American Music Awards and Billboard Music awards, and a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
