剧情：
《严肃的男人》的故事发生在1967年，拉里·戈普尼克（迈克尔·斯茫图巴饰）是美国中西部一所大学的物理学教授，一个脸上就写着沉闷、无聊的男人，也难怪他的妻子朱迪斯爱上了他的同事，跟他提出离婚。当然，这才是他倒霉日子的开始，他的哥哥越来越成为他生活的负担，而一封匿名信更是要将他的前程毁掉。焦头烂额的拉里只能求助于犹太教拉比（犹太教负责执行教规、律法并主持宗教仪式的人），这会帮助他走出困境、成为一个严肃的男人么？
