一如既往的凯尔特民谣，纯净不变的爱尔兰小调，14首清新雅乐如像一股冬日暖流缓缓流淌在你我心间。本辑精选的曲目都相当的好，名曲“奇异恩典”不用多说大家都耳熟能详；克萝伊带来的“当你相信 When You Believe”非常棒，许是阅历渐丰感觉比以往多了些成熟的内涵，也更富于表达；最后，特别推荐一首与加里西亚（Galiçia）相关的乐曲“西班牙海岸 The Coast Of Galiçia”（小提琴主奏：玛莉），欢快激情，每当这熟悉的旋律响起，不禁联想起西班牙的“风笛之神”卡洛斯·努涅兹（Carlos Núñez）与“酋长”乐队（The CHIEFTAINS）等嘉宾友人共同演绎的那场精彩的凯尔特 Celtic音乐盛会—— 《Carlos Núñez & Amigos. The international Irish music phenomenon, Celtic Woman, is renowned for singing inspirational melodies and heartwarming songs that stir fans of all ages and cultures. The 5 member Irish female ensemble (vocalists Chloe, Lisa, Alex, Lynn and Celtic Violinist Mairead) under the musical direction of David Downes, categorically defined a distinct genre by putting a modern twist on the Celtic sound. “Celtic Woman: Songs From the Heart” is a collection of contemporary and traditional songs performed in a haunting style by four singers and a violinist. The songs, which consist primarily of ballads, include familiar tunes such as “Amazing Grace”,“Fields of Gold” , and “You'll Be in My Heart”, There is also the more spirited, “Níl Sé'n Lá”, which is my personal favorite of the collection.
The women sing in pure, high tones and the music is simply beautiful, but the CD still left me wanting more. With the exception of the aforementioned Gaelic-inspired song, “Níl Sé'n Lá”, the music seemed more like something I'd hear at an Irish funeral than what I'd enjoy listening to at home. I kept hoping for just one more lively tune to showcase the violin and make me want to dance or sing along. There just isn't enough personality infused into the music.
For those who love nothing more than a well-sung ballad, Celtic Woman: Songs From the Heart should be high on your wish list. It really is a pretty collection of songs. Unfortunately, for me it's more lullaby than entertainment.
