当祭奠的仪式点燃了第一束火焰，也就昭示着彼岸统治者的降临；对人性的绝望和背弃，是新生时刻的反向流转；对生活的诗化肢解，殊途同归地逆向质疑：既然可以用丑恶歌咏美好，比如《恶之花》，那么同样可以用颂词来啜饮边缘，比如《天湖》——对黑暗、战争和极致之美的另类追求。
“施教日”的历史已经不用再多赘述，国内两大极端音乐杂志《重型音乐》和《极端音乐》都对他们做了不止一次采访，而乐迷也毫不吝惜地把赞美给予这支从小小的“橡树俱乐部”（前身就是“嚎叫”俱乐部）奋斗到今天国内极端金属界杰出代表的乐队。要知道，“3·15”这个消费者权益维护日也正是他们用最真实的“武器”让以“一小撮”为自豪的极端金属乐迷收获了等待的果实，连著名的乐评人YJ老师也亲临现场，记得当年他也写过一篇比较有份量的极端金属乐评。
唱片封套设计沿袭了北欧黑金属的黑暗和晦涩，落日下的“天湖”上布满厚重的阴云，隐约的森林和近处的一叶木舟也只是形式上的自我认同，毕竟要“黑”的话这些正凭添了一份神秘甚至缥缈。乐队的Logo设计悬挂在那片蘑菇状的阴云之中，像极了Dark Throne，但末节处的分叉却又分明抽离出他们分裂甚至癫狂的色彩——这正像主唱农永的黑嗓和诡异但古典的吉他riff编写。而内页那些底色图案等，早在年前就已在网上“广泛”传播过，因为它们都曾是这张唱片封面的备用稿。冷色的基调也很自然，农永的词作事实上正是有一种来自未知北国的肃杀萧瑟之气，无论是“一地秋叶”的弃绝还是“长着蜻蜓薄翅的蓝色精灵”的幻美乃至“穿越没有人性的恐惧”的决然，对异质文化的形式化学习至少他们已经做到了。而既然这不是个信徒的国度，那么如果勉强地“邯郸学步”只会亵渎他人的信仰，所以他们并不涉及宗教，这是个很聪明的做法。在音乐手法上，虽说大量的轮拨并不为黑金属所独有，但至少正是被这种音乐大量采用而贴上了外观标签。记得去年在对“施教日”的采访中他们也提到，早期偏死亡金属而后期偏黑金属。而最让人不解的是，“施教日”的歌词非常文学化地晦涩——天知道农永是怎么做到的。
听这张唱片的时候会产生一种狂飙突进的快感，无疑音乐上他们不仅仅具有黑金属的特征，死亡金属独有的彪悍也被充分地消化在滚雷般的双踩地鼓和如狂风扫过的密集音墙里。尤其值得称道的是一些做为过门的中速段落和solo，有一股蛮劲在里面蔓延，甚至显得大气而悲壮；那些被誉为有古典和声倾向的原声吉他段落和诡异的动机，却出自原本弹流行音乐吉他的张鑫之手，再一次感叹他究竟是如何蹦出这些出色的灵感的。而鼓手李洋在唱片中也是货真价实地用真鼓表现了亚洲人也能玩转这种“高端”金属乐的可能性。不过，从技术上来讲，这张唱片还是有些问题的：录音方面虽然已经尽到了最大的努力，但毕竟不完善，始终有一种“糙”的粗砺感夹杂其间，也因此裴磊的贝司演奏几近被淹没；“施教日”组队的历史也让他们在编曲上还没有完全成熟起来，颜峻老师对他们“还有更优秀的余地”的圆滑评价算是说到了点上——在段落的转换上还不够自然，更多地是凭着一股蛮力将段落咬合在一起，所以音乐上的层次感还不够充分。
作为在中国最具群众基础的摇滚乐形式之一的金属，在经过了十年左右的发展历程后，总算在“施教日”这一代金属乐队上看到了相对明确的未来：国内摇滚乐坛最缺乏的想像力和创造力，无疑在他们身上有了突出的表现，没有重复和刻意的模仿。同时，从MORT唱片为他们做的设计包装上来看，国内的正规唱片公司也真应该引咎自毙几个：就不能给“百姓”们点“好看”的？所以，在这个社会转型的群雄并起时期，来自民间的力量终将成就“王侯将相宁有种乎”的现代版——为这些暗涌交杯！
