Ideas for this sequel to James Galway’s popular and best-selling album SONG Of THE SEASHORE fell into place when we met the young Japanese musician Hiro Fujikake.

In Mr. Fujikake we find not only a composer whose melodies have that rare quality that suggests they may live forever - like the accompanying traditional Japanese melodies - but also a master of electronic keyboard instruments producing a spectrum of contemporary sound colorings and rhythms that blend into a new and exciting accompaniment for the unique timbre and phrasing of James Galway’s golden flute.

This album is a long melodic journey through many moods and musical ideas: from Fujikake’s contemporary classic.

The Enchanted Forest to the great traditional love song Hietsuki Bushi (“When the garden bell chimes, my lover will be here”), with its fascinating irregular phrases; from the two tone paintings Song of the Deep forest and Echoes, with its electronic “loop” effects, to the boisterous rhythms of the children’s play song Zui Zui Zukkorobashi and the majestic Nakasendo, the name of an old road and also the theme music for an NKK Television program of the same name.
