《WW1 Gold》在2008年发布的《WW1》的基础上添加众多全新特性，如新的地图外观，战斗日志，交战计划与外交管理窗口等。同时黄金版在游戏功能上也得到了极大改善，如配置工具可任意选择新旧地图模式，增强的地图界面将更易于浏览重要资讯，另外游戏AI也得到加强，使得游戏更具挑战性。
