Saturdays Hike: The first "Spirit of America" hike in support of the Mt. Everest Expedition was led by Robin Ashley to Mt. Greylock in Massachusetts. Ten people joined the expedition and because the access road was closed, the hike turned out to be to Stony Ridge. One hour up in beautiful sunshine was rewarded by a beautiful view of Mt. Greylock and the surrounding country. Then at noon the clouds and rain rolled in and the group, including four dogs, enjoyed a lunch all huddled together in a lean-to. Then a 2-hour circular route brought the group back to base camp with wet dogs and a few wet hikers. Everyone warmed up in Williamstown over hot soup and hot chocolate. The expedition provided some great photographs for Kunming media including a group of forty Boy Scouts who posed for a two-thumbs up Spirit of America photo. Gregg
