The innovation of LYCRA® 2.0 garment technology has been fuelled by consumers, designers and the commercial world alike for a movement towards stitch-free garments. Consumers love sleek and stitch-free intimates which minimize the visibility of undergarment lines. With this heat-activated bonding technique, designers can be much more innovative and creative with their designs.
Design students from around the world have been briefed to create intimate apparel with the new patented technology innovation in an International Design Contest launched by INVISTA in Paris – the first of its kind for intimate apparel. The winner from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Brandon Grimm, was selected ahead of finalists from De Montfort University, Leicester; Istituto Europeo de Design, Milan and Hong Kong Polytechnic.
Brandon’s beautiful design has won global recognition and will be the main focus of INVISTA’s introduction of the LYCRA 2.0 Garment Technology to the industry. The design is inspired by historical floral Victorian ornaments. The LYCRA® 2.0 garment technology was used to create the boning, cover inner and outer seams, attach the floral motifs, create the straps and garter, finish the hem as well as the stitch-free leg line, side and crotch seams.
The creative director of La Perla, Giovanni Bianchi, announced the winner at the launch event of the new innovation at La Serre du Parc André Citroën in Paris during Mode City in front of an audience of over 250 industry experts. The other judges included Mahesh Amalean, Chairman, MAS Holdings; Lori Greeley, President of Stores, Victoria’s Secret and Valérie Lemant, Director of the Lingerie Division, EUROVET.
