The 29th Olympic Games is successfully launched in Beijing. As a volunteer of middle school student, my duty today is to be a one-day-guide for Alice, who is a fourteen-year-old girl from Australia. This is her very first time of visiting Beijing to watch the Olympic Games. She is excited and full of curiosity.
At 9a.m, we met at her accommodation as we planned. I briefly introduced the local flavored snacks, scenic spots and historical sites of Beijing. And then, we visited Tian An Men Square and Imperial Palace.
I asked Alice to be my guest at noon. We had self-wrapped Jiao-zi for lunch. Alice was very happy to learn to say ‘I learned to wrap Jiao-zi and use chopsticks. in Chinese. On our leave, she said ‘Thank you’ in Chinese as I taught her, and asked me to be her guest next time.
In the afternoon, we went to the magnificent stadium by Olympic Game sightseeing bus. We watched the table tennis match which is her favourite game.
After spending whole day together, we became good friends. I got vague idea of the custom and culture in Australia while she learned some phrases and simple sentences of Chinese. She told me, she would like to study in University in Beijing, so as to acquire more knowledge of China, of Beijing.
