为什么一些高考状元更青睐港大呢?
參考答案:I may or may not be the right person to answer this question, since I am a graduate and at a time taught at University of Hong Kong.
My 2 cents are:
1. History. Beijing and Hong Kong both have a long history, but for some reasons, Hong Kong graduates tend to go overseas. Now, in major universities and companies in USA and Canada can you find HKU graduates holding senior and management positions. Such a connection will help the new graduates find a job in other countries.
2. English. HKU is an English speaking university, though not quite like UK, USA or Canada. It is easier for HKU graduates to adjust to an English speaking environment.
3. Cultural shock. Hong Kong is part of China and shares the same culture as Guangdong. At HKU, you feel the impact of Western culture, which is important if you use HKU as a window and a window of opportunity to see and greet the outside world.
4. Career. After graduation, if you are outstanding, you can find a job with the largest companies in the world, bringing you a good income and world vision.
Forget university ranking and Hong Kong tour. If you are one of them and are offered a scholarship, why not?
