contribute directly to a person's physical fitness这句话没有任何问题。
contribute和directly搭配很合适：
比如：Unemployment contributes directly to homelessness.
physical fitness也没问题。此刻我在google上搜索它，得到的搜索结果数是10,900,000个。
（不过不是非要physical不可，fitness一词单独就可以表达“身体健康”这层意思了）
google并不那么可靠，但是楼上的老师的错误很明显。
