How time flies. Another new year is coming toward us. This is not a common new year. This is the beginning of a new century. We have witnessed the new millennium. Now we will see the new century. Are you ready for it?
Our nation would be a member of WTO in the coming year. It’s both a great chance and a severe challenge to all of us. Our enterprises would face with the competitors both at home and abroad. Are you ready for it if you are an entrepreneur?
It’s said that we would have another 40 million jobless people after entering into WTO because of the low efficiency of our state-owned enterprises. Many employees in the state-owned sectors would be leave their organizations and have to find a new job. They would lose the paternal love of our state and all depend on themselves. Are you ready for it if you are a worker?
It would be a great chance and opportunity to those young knowledgeable people. They can make much more choices of their ways of living and work. This is their times. It’s them who make the tomorrow of our people and our nation. Are you ready for it if you are a young man? Remember, chances and opportunities would never smile at those unready people.
We would enter into an information age. We would enter into an age electronic commerce. There are so many virgin soils. There are so many gold mines. But you need to have the eyes of discoverer and the nerve of gold digger. Are you ready for it if you are an investor?
All in all, I think English would means more and more to us in the coming year, coming decade and coming century. This forum would be more and more attractive to us. Let’s help each other to learn English better. Let’s work hard together for the happiness of our nation, our people and ourselves.
