You have a China Academy of Social Sciences, don't you. It has just recently announced that recent research shows 80% of people in Beijing are now having premarital sex.
Twenty-two years ago that number was only 15%.
Explicit books and articles are being sold widely now in China. Some are writtenby women who tell experiences of their "one night stands" One women is proud that she has been to bed with 65 men. She just draws from her "pool" of possibilities, "enjoys them" and then drops them, just as fast.
Your government is not happy about this trend. Many people don't like it, but younger people think it is smart and up-to-date, and that they want to be different from their parents and the rest of the older generation.
It is said that things in China now are becoming like the West began to be in the 60's. Many women in the West can't have babies because of the diseases they caught between the 60's and now. Loose sex gave them a disease called clamydia which injured their fallopian tubes, often without them knowing they had it, so now the delicate tubes are scarred and blocked, and can't be repaired. Did you know that?
Do you know that the medicines that were controlling these diseases, especially controlling HIV/AIDS, aren't working well any more? There is no cure for HIV/AIDS, just the possibility of control. Do you know that it costs about $30,000 per year to try to treat a person with HIV/AIDS with these failing medicines?
Do you know that it is well known that China is in great danger of an HIV/AIDS epidemic? It is third in line, behind Africa, which already has a dreadful one, and India, which is close behind.
You now have enough people in China with HIV/AIDS so that you are on the brink of an epidemic. Anyone who practises unprotected sex is taking a terrible chance with their life and future.
Irrespective of that, one night stands are not romantic. To try and separate sex from love, and just live for the moment usually backfires.
If you are going to join the 80% in Beijing who take part in premarital sex it is absolutely vital that you wear a new, good quality condom EVERY time. If you can't do that you should not have sex.
If you do, remember, you are probably not the first to have it with this person.Who was there before you having sex with the one who wants you now? People who have premarital sex have usually had previous experiences. You are taking a chance that they caught something, which isn't hard to do with unprotected sex and a lot of screwing around.
There are lots of things to catch. Not only HIV/AIDS. All of them are ugly, dangerous and can make you into a carrier yourself. For God's sake, take care of yourselves! You are young and think things can't touch you. That is a commonbelief in young people, to think that it can't happen to them. That's what all the others thought before they heard their HIV/AIDS death sentences. Spare yourselves, your families, your friends and all the rest of us the horrors of your lingering, awful death. Take care my dear friends.
This is written bluntly and with honest concern and caring for all of you. Don't try to tell me it isn't true, because I know it is. Furthermore, people here on the forum have told me that high quality condoms are usually not available in China. If you are wise, you will be sure to keep yourself safe. It just simply isn't worth it. Be wise, dear friends.
